Removal of the Fuel Nozzle
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES.
IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER.
IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP.
AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-13-41-010-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 73-13-41-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

Subtask 73-13-41-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the Fuel Nozzle:
PRE SBE 73-0088
(1) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (9) from the fuel nozzles (1) at the location 1 and 2
(2) Put the CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) into position to catch the drained fuel.
(a) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (17) from the distribution valve (13).
(b) Remove the gasket (16), the packings (12) and the transfer tube (15).
(c) Discard the gasket (16) and the packings (12).
(d) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube (9) from the fuel nozzle (1) that is to be removed.
(e) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube from the adjacent fuel nozzle.
(f) Remove the two clamps (6) to prevent damage to the tube when you remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(g) Remove the gaskets (10) from the fuel nozzles (1).
(h) Discard the gaskets (10).
(i) Remove the transfer tubes (11) from the two fuel nozzles.
(j) Remove the packings (3) from the transfer tubes.
(k) Discard the packings (3).
(3) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 1 or 2 from the diffuser case
(a) Remove the lockwire and remove the bolts (5) which attach the fuel nozzle (1) or the fuel nozzle (1) and bracket (4) to the diffuser case.
(b) Remove the bracket (4) from the fuel nozzle (1) at location 2.
1 Make a mark to show the position of the bracket. This will make the installation of the fuel nozzle easier.
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Remove the gasket (2) from the fuel nozzle (1).
(e) Discard the gasket (2).

(1) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (9) from the fuel nozzles (1) at the location 1 and 2

(b) Remove the gasket (16), the packings (12) and the transfer tube (15).
(c) Discard the gasket (16) and the packings (12).

(e) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube from the adjacent fuel nozzle.
(f) Remove the two clamps (6) to prevent damage to the tube when you remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(g) Remove the gaskets (10) from the fuel nozzles (1).
(h) Discard the gaskets (10).
(i) Remove the transfer tubes (11) from the two fuel nozzles.
(j) Remove the packings (3) from the transfer tubes.
(k) Discard the packings (3).
(3) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 1 or 2 from the diffuser case
(a) Remove the lockwire and remove the bolts (5) which attach the fuel nozzle (1) or the fuel nozzle (1) and bracket (4) to the diffuser case.
(b) Remove the bracket (4) from the fuel nozzle (1) at location 2.
1 Make a mark to show the position of the bracket. This will make the installation of the fuel nozzle easier.
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Remove the gasket (2) from the fuel nozzle (1).
(e) Discard the gasket (2).

B. Remove the Fuel Nozzle:
POST SBE 73-0088
(1) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (9) from the fuel nozzles (1) at the location 1 and 2
(2) Put the clean CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) into position to catch the drained fuel.
(a) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (16) from the distribution valve (13).
(b) Remove the packings (12) and the transfer tube (15).
(c) Discard the packings (12).
(d) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube (9) from the fuel nozzle (1) that is to be removed.
(e) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube from the adjacent fuel nozzle.
(f) Remove the two clamps (6) to prevent damage to the tube when you remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(g) Remove the transfer tubes (10) from the two fuel nozzles (1).
(h) Remove the packings (3) from the transfer tubes.
(i) Discard the packings (3).
(3) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 1 or 2 from the diffuser case
(a) Remove the lockwire and remove the bolts (5) which attach the fuel nozzle (1) or the fuel nozzle (1) and bracket (4) to the diffuser case.
(b) Remove the bracket (4) from the fuel nozzle (1) at location 2.
1 Make a mark to show the position of the bracket. This will make the installation of the fuel nozzle easier.
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Remove the gasket (2) from the fuel nozzle (1).

(a) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (17) from the distribution valve (13).
(b) Remove the gasket (16), the packings (12) and the transfer tube (15).
(c) Discard the gasket (16) and the packings (12).
(d) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube (9) from the fuel nozzle (1) that is to be removed.
(e) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube from the adjacent fuel nozzle.
(f) Remove the clamps (6) to prevent damage to the tube when you remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(g) Remove the gaskets (10) from the fuel nozzles (1).
(h) Discard the gaskets (10).
(i) Remove the transfer tubes (11) from the two fuel nozzles.
(j) Remove the packings (3) from the transfer tubes.
(k) Discard the packings (3).
(2) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 3 or 4 from the diffuser case
(a) Remove the lockwire and remove the bolts (5) which attach the fuel nozzle (1) or the fuel nozzle (1) and bracket (4) to the diffuser case.
(b) Remove the bracket (4) at fuel nozzle (1) location 3 away from the fuel nozzle.
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Remove the gasket (2) from the fuel nozzle (1).
(e) Discard the gasket (2).

(b) Remove the bracket (4) at fuel nozzle (1) location 3 away from the fuel nozzle.
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Remove the gasket (2) from the fuel nozzle (1).
(e) Discard the gasket (2).

D. Remove the Fuel Nozzle:

(1) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (9) from the fuel nozzles (1) at the location 3 and 4
(a) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (16) from the distribution valve (13).
(b) Remove the packings (12) and the transfer tube (15).
(c) Discard the packings (12).
(d) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube (9) from the fuel nozzle (1) that is to be removed.
(e) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube from the adjacent fuel nozzle.
(f) Remove the clamps (6) to prevent damage to the tube when you remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(g) Remove the transfer tubes (10) from the fuel nozzles (1).
(h) Remove the packings (3) from the transfer tubes.
(i) Discard the packings (3).
(2) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 3 or 4 from the diffuser case
(a) Remove the lockwire and remove the bolts (5) which attach the fuel nozzle (1) or the fuel nozzle (1) and bracket (4) to the diffuser case.
(b) Remove the bracket (4) at fuel nozzle location 3 away from the fuel nozzle (1).
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).

(2) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 5 or 6 from the diffuser case

(b) Move the bracket at fuel nozzle location 5 away from the fuel nozzle (1).
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).

(b) Move the bracket at fuel nozzle location 5 away from the fuel nozzle (1).
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).

(g) Remove the packings (3) from the transfer tubes.
(h) Discard the packings (3).
(2) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 5 or 6 from the diffuser case
(a) Remove the lockwire and remove the bolts (5) which attach the fuel nozzle (1) or the fuel nozzle (1) and bracket (4) to the diffuser case.
(b) Move the bracket at fuel nozzle location 5 away from the fuel nozzle (1).
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Remove the gasket (2) from the fuel nozzle (1).
(e) Discard the gasket (2).

G. Remove the Fuel Nozzle:

(1) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (9) from the fuel nozzles (1) at the location 7 and 8
(a) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (17) from the distribution valve (13).
(b) Remove the gasket (16), the packings (12) and the transfer tube (15).
(c) Discard the gasket (16) and the packings (12).
(d) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube (9) from the fuel nozzle (1) that is to be removed.
(e) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube from the adjacent fuel nozzle.
(f) Remove the manifold completely.
(g) Remove the gaskets (10) from the fuel nozzles.
(h) Discard the gaskets (10).
(i) Remove the transfer tubes (11) from the fuel nozzles.
(j) Remove the packings (3) from the transfer tubes.
(k) Discard the packings (3).
(2) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 7, 8, 9 or 10 from the diffuser case
(a) Remove the lockwire and remove the bolts (5) which attach the fuel nozzle (1) or the fuel nozzle (1) and bracket (4) to the diffuser case.
(b) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(c) Remove the gasket (2) from the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Discard the gasket (2).

(g) Remove the gaskets (10) from the fuel nozzles.

(1) Disconnect the fuel supply tubes (9) from the fuel nozzles (1) at the location 19 and 20
(a) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube (9) from the fuel nozzle (1) that is to be removed.
(b) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the fuel supply tube from the adjacent fuel nozzle.
(c) Remove the clamps (6) that is nearest the fuel nozzles to prevent damage to the tube when you remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Remove the gaskets (10) from the fuel nozzles.
(e) Discard the gaskets (10).
(f) Remove the transfer tubes (11) from the fuel nozzles.
(g) Remove the packings (3) from the transfer tubes.
(h) Discard the packings (3).
(2) Remove the fuel nozzle (1) at location 19 or 20 from the diffuser case
(a) Remove the lockwire and remove the bolts (5) which attach the fuel nozzle (1) or the fuel nozzle (1) and bracket (4) to the diffuser case.
(b) Move the bracket at fuel nozzle location 19 away from the fuel nozzle (1).
(c) Remove the fuel nozzle (1).
(d) Remove the gasket (2) from the fuel nozzle (1).
(e) Discard the gasket (2).
(f) Remove the container.
(g) Discard the drained fuel.
