Removal of the Burner Selection Valve (BSV) for DAC Engines
1. Reason for the Job
This TASK is applicable for DAC Engines.
This task is only applicable for engines that have the burner selection valve (BSV) system installed (CFM56-5B SB 73-0112 and CFM56-5B SB 73-0114). Service Bulletins deleted the BSV system.

This TASK is applicable for DAC Engines.
This task is only applicable for engines that have the burner selection valve (BSV) system installed (CFM56-5B SB 73-0112 and CFM56-5B SB 73-0114). Service Bulletins deleted the BSV system.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

A. Remove the burner selection valve (BSV).
(2) Remove the drain plug (140) and allow the fuel to drain into the container.
(3) Remove and discard the O-ring (130). Keep the drain plug for use on the replacement BSV.
(4) Install a PLUG - BLANKING in the drain port of the BSV.
(5) Disconnect the electrical connectors, Channel A (30) and Channel B (20), from the BSV (120). If necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(6) Put CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors.
(7) Remove the bolts (70) that attach the signal manifold (60) to the BSV (120).
(8) Remove the gasket (110).
(9) Remove the bolts (90) that attach the fuel supply tube (80) to the BSV (120).
(10) Remove the gasket (100).
(11) Remove the bolts (180) that attach the fuel supply manifold (190) to the BSV (120).
(12) Remove the gasket (170).
Remove the bolts (260) that attach the PCR fuel tube (220) to the BSV (120).
(13) Remove the gasket (250).
(14) Remove the bolts (230) that attach the bracket (240) to the BSV (120).
(15) Remove the bolts (160) that attach the BSV (120) to the bracket (150).
(16) Remove the bolts (200) that attach the BSV (120) to the bracket (210).
(17) Remove the bolts (50, 40) that attach the BSV (120) to the bracket (10).
(18) Remove the BSV (120).
(19) Install the COVER - PROTECTION on the open ports of the BSV (120) and the manifolds and tubes (60, 80, 190, 220).
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES.
IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER.
IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP.
AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the drain plug (140) of the BSV. (2) Remove the drain plug (140) and allow the fuel to drain into the container.
(3) Remove and discard the O-ring (130). Keep the drain plug for use on the replacement BSV.
(4) Install a PLUG - BLANKING in the drain port of the BSV.
(5) Disconnect the electrical connectors, Channel A (30) and Channel B (20), from the BSV (120). If necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(6) Put CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors.

(12) Remove the gasket (170).
Remove the bolts (260) that attach the PCR fuel tube (220) to the BSV (120).
(13) Remove the gasket (250).
(14) Remove the bolts (230) that attach the bracket (240) to the BSV (120).
(15) Remove the bolts (160) that attach the BSV (120) to the bracket (150).
(16) Remove the bolts (200) that attach the BSV (120) to the bracket (210).
(17) Remove the bolts (50, 40) that attach the BSV (120) to the bracket (10).
(18) Remove the BSV (120).
(19) Install the COVER - PROTECTION on the open ports of the BSV (120) and the manifolds and tubes (60, 80, 190, 220).
