Subtask 73-11-50-941-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-11-50-865-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:

Subtask 73-11-50-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Disconnect the Fuel Tube.
(1) Remove the three clamps that attach the fuel return tube (10) to the three fan frame brackets.
(2) Disconnect the fuel return tube (10) from the Fuel Return Valve (FRV).
Subtask 73-11-50-480-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the three clamps that attach the fuel return tube (10) to the three fan frame brackets.
(2) Disconnect the fuel return tube (10) from the Fuel Return Valve (FRV).
B. Preparation for the Test.
(1) Connect the 856A2776 TOOL SET-CHECKING FRV (856A2776G01), between the fuel return tube (10) and the fuel return valve (120). TORQUE to between 472.5 and 427.5 lbf.in (5.34 and 4.83 m.daN )
.
(2) Disconnect the J13 harness electrical connector from the oil temperature sensor (100).
(3) Connect the oil temperature adapter lead:
(4) Set-up the TT1000A DIGITAL TURBINE TEMPERATURE TEST SET or equivalent as follows:
(a) Energize the tester.
(b) Set the FUNCTION switch to RESISTANCE MEASURE.
(c) Set the RESISTANCE RANGE switch to 20 ohms.
(d) Connect the test clips together.
(e) Push the red PUSH TO SET button, and adjust the SYSTEM RES potentiometer to one ohm on the Liquid Cristal Display (LCD).
(f) Set the FUNCTION switch to INDICATOR TEST.
(g) Set the TEMP ADJ potentiometer to the minimum value.
(h) Connect the black clip:
Subtask 73-11-50-720-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Connect the 856A2776 TOOL SET-CHECKING FRV (856A2776G01), between the fuel return tube (10) and the fuel return valve (120). TORQUE to between 472.5 and 427.5 lbf.in (5.34 and 4.83 m.daN )
. (2) Disconnect the J13 harness electrical connector from the oil temperature sensor (100).
(3) Connect the oil temperature adapter lead:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE INPUT VOLTAGE IS CORRECT OTHERWISE, DAMAGE TO THE ECU COULD OCCUR.
(a) Connect the 856A2797 ADAPTER-FUEL RETURN VALVE (856A2797G01) to the J13 harness connector (110). (4) Set-up the TT1000A DIGITAL TURBINE TEMPERATURE TEST SET or equivalent as follows:
(a) Energize the tester.
(b) Set the FUNCTION switch to RESISTANCE MEASURE.
(c) Set the RESISTANCE RANGE switch to 20 ohms.
(d) Connect the test clips together.
(e) Push the red PUSH TO SET button, and adjust the SYSTEM RES potentiometer to one ohm on the Liquid Cristal Display (LCD).
(f) Set the FUNCTION switch to INDICATOR TEST.
(g) Set the TEMP ADJ potentiometer to the minimum value.
(h) Connect the black clip:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE OF THE CORRECT POLARITY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TEST SET.
1 Connect the black clip of the tester to the black wire of the 856A2797 ADAPTER-FUEL RETURN VALVE (856A2797G01) ((-) alumel indicator) and the red clip to the red wire of the adapter ((+) chromel indicator). C. Functional Test of the Fuel Return Valve.
(1) Do a minimum idle check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006).
(a) While the engine operates, set the "TEMP ADJ" potentiometer of the BARFIELD tester to 100 deg.C (212 deg.F) to 110 deg.C (230 deg.F) on the LCD and make sure that the pressure gage on 856A2776 TOOL SET-CHECKING FRV (856A2776G01), shows a positive reading.
(3) De-energize the Barfield tester.
Subtask 73-11-50-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Do a minimum idle check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006).
(a) While the engine operates, set the "TEMP ADJ" potentiometer of the BARFIELD tester to 100 deg.C (212 deg.F) to 110 deg.C (230 deg.F) on the LCD and make sure that the pressure gage on 856A2776 TOOL SET-CHECKING FRV (856A2776G01), shows a positive reading.
NOTE: The ECU energizes the FRV solenoid valve when the oil temperature is 93 deg.C (199.4 deg.F), the FRV operates at 100 deg.C (212.00 deg.F).
NOTE: If the reading is not positive, the FRV does not operate.
(2) Shut down the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-028)(3) De-energize the Barfield tester.
D. Remove the Checking Tool Set of the Fuel Return Valve:
(1) Remove the 856A2776 TOOL SET-CHECKING FRV (856A2776G01), from the FRV (120).
(2) Connect the fuel return tube (10). TORQUE coupling nut to between 472.5 and 427.5 lbf.in (5.34 and 4.83 m.daN )

(3) Install the three clamps that attach the hose on the 3 fan frame brackets. TORQUE the screws to between 36 and 24 lbf.in (0.41 and 0.27 m.daN )
.
Subtask 73-11-50-360-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Subtask 73-11-50-080-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the 856A2776 TOOL SET-CHECKING FRV (856A2776G01), from the FRV (120).
(2) Connect the fuel return tube (10). TORQUE coupling nut to between 472.5 and 427.5 lbf.in (5.34 and 4.83 m.daN )
. (3) Install the three clamps that attach the hose on the 3 fan frame brackets. TORQUE the screws to between 36 and 24 lbf.in (0.41 and 0.27 m.daN )
. F. 5 minutes after the engine shutdown de-energize the ECU. Then de-energize the tester and disconnect the adapter lead (856A2797G01) from the BARFIELD tester and from the oil temperature sensor.
Subtask 73-11-50-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL G. Connect the electrical connector (110) to the oil temperature sensor (100). Tighten the connector fingertight plus one eight turn. Do this use PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG .
