A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(b) Install the new73111001-153 O'RING 10 and 73111001-153 O'RING 30 in the related groove of the new AIPC 73-11-10-01-152 FUEL FILTER ELEMENT (20) located at both ends. Soak the new O'rings (10) and (30) with engine fuel and slightly lubricate the new O'rings with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .

(c) Soak the new O'ring located at both ends of AIPC 73-11-10-01-152 FUEL FILTER ELEMENT (20) with engine fuel and slightly lubricate the new O'rings with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .

(d) Install the new73111001-148 O'RING 90 , in the related groove of the fuel filter cover (40), soak the new O'ring with engine fuel and lubricate it with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
(e) Carefully install the fuel filter element (20) into the fuel filter cover (40).
(h) Adjust the tabs of the fuel filter element (20) to the ribs of the filter housing.
(j) Install the bolt (100) as follows:
2 Install the 6 bolts (100), the 6 washers (110), the 6 self-aligning washers (130) and nuts (120) to obey the assembly configuration.
(k) Engage the bolts freely by hand (head bolt held and rotated with fingers , no tool is permitted) and rotate for two complete turns minimun (it should not be possible to fully hand tighten bolts).
(l) TORQUE the bolts (100).

(m) Unscrew the 6 bolts and torque them again to between 0.90 and 0.79 m.daN (79.65 and 69.91 lbf.in )
(n) Install a new73111001-147 O'RING 80 , soak the new O'ring with engine fuel and lubricate it with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) , on drain plug (70).
(o) Install drain plug (70) lightly coated with engine fuel. TORQUE drain plug to between 0.62 and 0.50 m.daN (54.87 and 44.25 lbf.in )
. Safety with CP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia . SPM 707012

Subtask 73-11-10-420-072-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: This subtask is for engines that have a fuel filter cover attachment with six bolts, six washers, six self-aligning nuts and six self-aligning washers (configuration 2: Main fuel pump repaired by CFM SB 73-0135).
(1) Install the fuel filter element (20) as follows: WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Clean the fuel filter housing and the fuel filter cover (40) with de-aromatized petroleum (Material No.CP5074) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) . Make sure that the wave spring and retaining ring are correctly installed on the inner boss of the fuel filter cover (40). PRE CFM SB 73-0177

CAUTION:
DO NOT USE BOLTS TO HELP COVER FILTER ENGAGEMENT. DAMAGE ON INSERT WILL OCCUR. A WOOD OR PLASTIC HAMMER MAY HELP TO ENGAGE THE COVER IF NECESSARY.
(f) Visually inspect through the fuel filter element (20) that the O'ring (30) has not released from its groove and check that the fuel filter element does not move. NOTE: This step is for engines PRE SB 73-0177.
(g) Carefully place the fuel filter cover (40) and the fuel filter element (20) into the filter housing. (h) Adjust the tabs of the fuel filter element (20) to the ribs of the filter housing.
NOTE: This step is for engines SB 73-0177.
(i) Before bolt installation, make sure that the cover is well seated against the housing flange. (j) Install the bolt (100) as follows:
CAUTION:
DO NOT INTERMIX THE DIFFERENT HARDWARE OF INSTALLATION KITS. THERE ARE TWO SUPPLIERS FOR THE HARDWARE ASSEMBLY KITS PH030035-4 OR NAS1727-4D. THE SPHERICAL PROFILE OF NUTS AND WASHERS IS DIFFERENT. THESE TWO DIFFERENT HARDWARE HAVE VISUALLY THE SAME DESIGN BUT THEY HAVE DIFFERENT SPHERICAL PROFILES. INCORRECT BOLT, NUT AND WASHER INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE HARDWARE DAMAGE.
1 Lubricate the 6 head faces of the bolt (100) (in contact with the flat washer (110)), the 6 threads of the bolts (100) and the 6 spherical sides of the self- aligning nuts (120) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) . 2 Install the 6 bolts (100), the 6 washers (110), the 6 self-aligning washers (130) and nuts (120) to obey the assembly configuration.
(k) Engage the bolts freely by hand (head bolt held and rotated with fingers , no tool is permitted) and rotate for two complete turns minimun (it should not be possible to fully hand tighten bolts).
(l) TORQUE the bolts (100).
CAUTION:
YOU MUST TIGHTEN THE BOLTS WITH APPROPRIATE TOOLS (PRESET TORQUE WRENCH). EXCESSIVE TORQUE MAY LEAD TO DAMAGE THE HARDWARE.
1 TORQUE the bolts to between 0.90 and 0.79 m.daN (79.65 and 69.91 lbf.in ) 
(m) Unscrew the 6 bolts and torque them again to between 0.90 and 0.79 m.daN (79.65 and 69.91 lbf.in )

(n) Install a new

(d) Install a new73111001-148 O'RING 90 , in the related groove of the fuel filter cover (40), soak the new O'ring (90) with engine fuel and lubricate it with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
(e) Carefully install the fuel filter element (20) into the fuel filter cover (40).
(f) Visually inspect through the fuel filter element (20) that the O'ring (30) has not released from its groove and check that the fuel filter element (20) does not move.
(h) Carefully install the fuel filter cover (40) and the fuel filter element (20) into the filter housing.
(i) Adjust the tab of the AIPC 73-11-10-01-152 FUEL FILTER ELEMENT (20) to the ribs of the filter housing.
(k) Install flat washer (330) and nuts (320).
(l) Make sure that the nuts (320) screw freely by hand, as follows:
(m) Install the flat washer (340) and the bolt (350).
(o) TORQUE the nuts (320) and the bolt (350) to between 0.90 and 0.79 m.daN (79.65 and 69.91 lbf.in )

(p) Soak a new73111001-147 O'RING 80 with engine fuel, lubricate it with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) and install the O'ring on the drain plug (70).
(q) Lightly lubricate the drain plug thread (70) with engine fuel. Install and TORQUE the drain plug (70) to between 0.62 and 0.50 m.daN (54.87 and 44.25 lbf.in )

(1) Install the fuel filter element (20) as follows: WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Clean the fuel filter housing and the fuel filter cover (40) with de-aromatized petroleum (Material No.CP5074) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) . (g) Apply the following material. CAUTION:
DO NOT USE BOLTS TO HELP COVER FILTER ENGAGEMENT. DAMAGE ON INSERT WILL OCCUR. A WOOD OR PLASTIC HAMMER MAY HELP TO ENGAGE THE COVER IF NECESSARY.
1 Apply graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) on the 5 D-HEAD bolt (300) threads, flat washers (330), nuts (320) (face in contact with flat washer) and on the bolt (350) thread. (h) Carefully install the fuel filter cover (40) and the fuel filter element (20) into the filter housing.
(i) Adjust the tab of the AIPC 73-11-10-01-152 FUEL FILTER ELEMENT (20) to the ribs of the filter housing.
NOTE: This step is for engines SB 73-0177.
(j) Before bolt installation, make sure that the cover is well seated against the housing flange. (k) Install flat washer (330) and nuts (320).
(l) Make sure that the nuts (320) screw freely by hand, as follows:
NOTE: No tool is permitted.
1 Rotate each nut for two complete turns minimum. If the attaching part is in good condition, it should not be possible to fully hand tighten the nut. (m) Install the flat washer (340) and the bolt (350).
NOTE: Only one bolt is used in the hole adjacent to the nameplate.
(n) Make sure that the bolt (350) engages freely by hand, as follows: NOTE: No tool is permitted.
1 Hold the bolt (350) head between your fingers, and rotate the bolt a minimum of two turns. If the insert is in good condition, it should not be possible to fully hand tighten the bolt (350). (o) TORQUE the nuts (320) and the bolt (350) to between 0.90 and 0.79 m.daN (79.65 and 69.91 lbf.in )
. (p) Soak a new

2 Install the bolt (100), the washer (110), the self-aligning washer (130) and the self-aligning nut (120) and obey the assembly configuration.
(l) Engage the bolt (100) freely by hand, as follows:
(m) Install flat washers (330) and nuts (320).
(n) Make sure that the nuts (320) screw freely by hand, as follows:
(o) TORQUE the bolt (100) to between 0.90 and 0.79 m.daN (79.65 and 69.91 lbf.in )

(p) Unscrew the bolt (100) and TORQUE it again to between 0.90 and 0.79 m.daN (79.65 and 69.91 lbf.in )

NOTE: This subtask is for engines that have a fuel filter cover attachment with five D-HEAD bolts, retaining rings, washers, nuts (5 locations) (repaired by the application of CFM SB 73-A0143) and one bolt, washer, self-aligning washer and self-aligning nut (1 location) (configuration 4: Main fuel pump repaired by CFM SB 73-A0143 and CFM SB 73-0174).
(1) Install the fuel filter element (20) as follows: WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Clean the fuel filter housing and the fuel filter cover (40) with de-aromatized petroleum (Material No.CP5074) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) . DO NOT USE BOLTS TO HELP COVER FILTER ENGAGEMENT. DAMAGE ON INSERT WILL OCCUR. A WOOD OR PLASTIC HAMMER MAY HELP TO ENGAGE THE COVER IF NECESSARY.
(h) Carefully install the fuel filter cover (40) and the fuel filter element (20) into the filter housing. (i) Adjust the tabs of the AIPC 73-11-10-01-152 FUEL FILTER ELEMENT (20) to the ribs of the filter housing.
NOTE: This step is for engines SB 73-0177.
(j) Before bolt installation, make sure that the cover is well seated against the housing flange. CAUTION:

1 Lubricate the head faces of the bolt (100) (in contact with the flat washer (110)), the thread of the bolt and the spherical side of the self-aligning nut (120) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) . 2 Install the bolt (100), the washer (110), the self-aligning washer (130) and the self-aligning nut (120) and obey the assembly configuration.
(l) Engage the bolt (100) freely by hand, as follows:
NOTE: No tool is permitted.
1 Hold the bolt head between your fingers and rotate the bolt a minimum of two turns. If the attaching part is in good condition, it should not be possible to fully hand tighten the bolt. (m) Install flat washers (330) and nuts (320).
