Removal of the Fuel Filter Cartridge
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
NOTE: After the replacement of the fuel filter on one engine, we recommend to wait at least 3 flights before the replacement on the other engine. Unless if an alert asks for its replacement before.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-11-10-010-078-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

A. Removal of the Fuel Filter Cartridge
(2) Draining of the fuel from the fuel filter housing (2)
1 Removal of the lockwire
2 Remove the drain plug (3) from the fuel filter bowl (4).
3 Let the fuel drain into the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
4 Remove and discard the O-ring (11) from the drain plug (3).
(b) Install the drain plug (3) on the fuel filter bowl (4) as follows:
1 Lubricate the threads of the drain plug (3) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) and new EIPC 73-11-10-01-030 O-RING (11) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
2 Install the new O-ring (11) in the groove of the drain plug (3).
(c) Installation of the drain plug
(d) TORQUE the drain plug (3) to between 150 and 140 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.58 m.daN )

(e) Installation of the lockwire
CP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. .
(6) Remove and discard the O-ring (6) and O-ring (7) from the fuel filter cartridge (1).
(7) Remove and discard the O-ring (8).
(8) Remove and discard the back-up rings (9) and (10) from the fuel filter bowl (4).
(9) Discard the fuel filter cartridge (1).
(10) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
WARNING:
WHEN YOU USE ENGINE FUEL, USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT AND DO IT IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE FUEL IS TOXIC.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the drain port of the fuel filter bowl (4). (2) Draining of the fuel from the fuel filter housing (2)
WARNING:
USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
(a) Remove the drain plug (3) from the fuel filter bowl (4) as follows: 1 Removal of the lockwire
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
a Cut and remove the lockwire from the drain plug (3). 2 Remove the drain plug (3) from the fuel filter bowl (4).
3 Let the fuel drain into the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
4 Remove and discard the O-ring (11) from the drain plug (3).
(b) Install the drain plug (3) on the fuel filter bowl (4) as follows:
1 Lubricate the threads of the drain plug (3) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) and new EIPC 73-11-10-01-030 O-RING (11) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
2 Install the new O-ring (11) in the groove of the drain plug (3).
(c) Installation of the drain plug
CAUTION:
DO NOT INSTALL THE DRAIN PLUG WITHOUT AN O-RING. THE INSTALLATION OF A DRAIN PLUG WITHOUT AN O-RING CAN CAUSE OIL OR FUEL LEAKAGE DURING ENGINE OPERATION AND A POSSIBLE ENGINE SHUTDOWN.
1 Install the drain plug (3) in the correct position on the fuel filter bowl (4) and tighten it with your hand. (d) TORQUE the drain plug (3) to between 150 and 140 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.58 m.daN )
. (e) Installation of the lockwire
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
1 Safety the drain plug (3) with the NOTE: It is acceptable to wait to install lockwire until after the filter bowl has been removed and reinstalled such that a socket may be used on the filter bowl boss for ease of removal and installation.
(3) Push the latch (5) to disengage it from the fuel filter bowl (4) teeth. NOTE: The latch (5) will remain in the open position.
(4) Turn the fuel filter bowl (4) to remove it from the fuel filter housing (2). NOTE: It is acceptable to use a WRENCH - STANDARD or SOCKET STANDARD on the bowl lower boss (12) to break torque and remove the bowl if hand torque is not sufficient to remove it.
(5) Remove the fuel filter cartridge (1) from the fuel filter bowl (4). (6) Remove and discard the O-ring (6) and O-ring (7) from the fuel filter cartridge (1).
(7) Remove and discard the O-ring (8).
(8) Remove and discard the back-up rings (9) and (10) from the fuel filter bowl (4).
(9) Discard the fuel filter cartridge (1).
(10) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
