A. Chemical Operation
(1) Removal of the coked oil.
(2) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the circular bearing surface of the gearshaft which touches the inner O-ring (140) of the rotating mating ring.
Subtask 72-63-00-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Removal of the coked oil.
CAUTION:
THE SEALOL SEALS ARE MATCHED ASSEMBLIES. IF ONE OF THE COMPONENTS IS DAMAGED, YOU MUST REPLACE THE COMPLETE SEAL.
(a) With acetone (Material No.CP1039) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) remove the coked oil which possibly remains on the gearshaft area related to the rotary part of the Sealol seal, to prevent possible damage to O-ring (140) at installation. (2) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the circular bearing surface of the gearshaft which touches the inner O-ring (140) of the rotating mating ring.
B. Installation of the Sealol Seal
(a) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the following new o-rings:

(a) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the following new o-rings:
(4) Install the rotating mating ring (130) with the 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576G01) which is used for all Sealol seals. Do as follows:
(a) Loosen nut, 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P06) or 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P11), and screw, 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P05) of tool, 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576G01) and set the rotary part to bring it against sleeve, 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P02) or 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P09). Tighten screw 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P05) to prevent rotation of the rotary part in the sleeve.
(b) Install the rotary part on the gearshaft. Turn the tool with the handle until the lugs in the bearing align with the slots of the rotary part.
(c) Turn the tool clockwise then counterclockwise to make sure that the lugs of the rotary part are correctly engaged in the slots of the bearing.
(d) Loosen the nut, 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P06) or 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P11), and screw 856A3576 SEALOL AND MAGNETIC SEALS-R/I (856A3576P05) and remove the tool.
(5) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the followings new O-rings:
(7) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the 3 nuts (110) and washers (100), and progressively lower the assembly with the 3 nuts (110) until the seal housing flange is fully against the face of the bearing housing.
(8) TORQUE the nuts to between 33 and 29 lbf.in (0.37 and 0.33 m.daN )
.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
DO NOT DISSOCIATE THE SEALOL SEAL HOUSING AND ROTATING MATING RING WHICH ARE A MATCHED ASSEMBLY. USE GLOVES WHEN YOU HANDLE THE SEALOL SEAL TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION.
CAUTION:
THERE ARE TWO CONFIGURATIONS OF SEALOL SEAL (SB CFM 72-474). THE O-RING OR BAL SEAL ARE MATCHED TO THEIR ROTATING MATING RING. THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.
(1) For the fuel pump and hydraulic pump drive pads (a) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the following new o-rings:
- AIPC 72-63-00-05-180 O-RING (140) for the fuel pump pad,
- AIPC 72-63-00-02-080 O-RING (140) for the hydraulic pump pad.
Install the o-ring (140) in the rotating mating ring (130).
PRE SB CFM 72-474
(a) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the following new o-rings:
- AIPC 72-63-00-06-080 O-RING (140) for the starter pad,
- AIPC 72-63-00-06-120 O-RING (140) for the IDG pad.
Install the O-ring (140) in the rotating mating ring (130).
END OF PRE SB CFM 72-474
POST SB CFM 72-474
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU INSTALL THE BAL SEAL (145) IN THE GROOVE OF THE ROTATING MATING RING (130) BECAUSE THE BAL SEAL IS EASILY DAMAGED.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE OPENING OF THE BAL SEAL (145) IS TOWARDS THE TABS OF THE ROTATING MATING RING (130), OTHERWISE IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE CAN OCCUR.
1 Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the following new bal seals: - AIPC 72-63-00-06-080 BAL SEAL (145) for the starter pad,
- AIPC 72-63-00-06-120 BAL SEAL (145) for the IDG pad,
Install the bal seal (145) in the rotating mating ring (130).

Install the O-ring (120) in the sealol seal housing (90).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT PARTICLES, EVEN OF EXTREMELY SMALL SIZE, ARE NOT LEFT BETWEEN THE POLISHED FACE OF THE ROTATING MATING RING AND THE CARBON FACE OF THE SEAL OIL HOUSING DURING INSTALLATION. OTHERWISE LEAKS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
DO NOT TAP THE SEALOL HOUSING TO INSTALL IT IN ITS RECESS. TO PREVENT CARBON RING DAMAGE DO AS DESCRIBED BELOW.
(a) Engage the Sealol seal assembly in the AGB until the O-ring (120) of the Sealol seal housing is seated against the bearing housing. (7) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the 3 nuts (110) and washers (100), and progressively lower the assembly with the 3 nuts (110) until the seal housing flange is fully against the face of the bearing housing.
