Installation of the Mating Ring on the Hydraulic Pump Gearshaft

4. ProcedureCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 72-61-00-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Mating Ring on the Hydraulic Pump
(1) Removal of the protection covers
(2) Install the mating ring (1) on the hydraulic pump gearshaft as follows:
(a) ApplyP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine
(b) Install the packing (2) on the mating ring (1).
(c) Make sure that the packing (2) is correctly installed into its groove.
(d) Prepare the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL as follows:
1 Make sure that the fingers of the bush are open. If not, fully turn the outer sleeve counterclockwise.
2 Fully turn the shaft counterclockwise to lift the centering.
(e) Install the mating ring (1) on the hydraulic pump gearshaft as follows:
2 Turn the outer sleeve clockwise until the fingers engage the mating ring (1).
(f) Align the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL with the hydraulic pump gearshaft.
(g) Put the mating ring (1) on the hydraulic pump gearshaft and push until it stops.
(i) Fully turn the outer sleeve counterclockwise to disengage the mating ring (1).
(j) Remove the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL.
(3) Make sure the PWA211777 TESTER, GAGE is correctly calibrated to the correct depth as follows:
(a) Install the PWA211777 TESTER, GAGE onto the PWA211780 TESTER, CALIBRATION at the location marked "HP".
(b) Make sure the mating surface is fully in contact with the PWA211780 TESTER, CALIBRATION.
(c) If the surfaces are not in contact, contact P&W.
(4) Make sure that the mating ring (1) is correctly installed as follows:
Check of Correct Installation of the Mating Ring on the Hydraulic Pump Gearshaft ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Put in position PWA211777 TESTER, GAGE on the hydraulic pump gearshaft.
(b) Push until the tester stops and hold it in position.
(c) Look at the pin.
1 If you cannot see the red band of the pin, the mating ring (1) is correctly installed.
2 Go to the step 4.A.(6).
3 If you can see the red band of the pin, the mating ring (1) is not correctly installed.
4 Remove the mating ring (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-00-020-801).
5 Do the step 4.A.(2) thru step 4.A.(4) again.
(5) Install the hydraulic pump gearshaft carbon face seal, contact P&W.
(6) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage, and correct assembly.
5. Close-up(1) Removal of the protection covers
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Install the mating ring (1) on the hydraulic pump gearshaft as follows:
(a) Apply
(b) Install the packing (2) on the mating ring (1).
(c) Make sure that the packing (2) is correctly installed into its groove.
(d) Prepare the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL as follows:
1 Make sure that the fingers of the bush are open. If not, fully turn the outer sleeve counterclockwise.
2 Fully turn the shaft counterclockwise to lift the centering.
(e) Install the mating ring (1) on the hydraulic pump gearshaft as follows:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FOUR ANTI-ROTATION TABS OF THE MATING RING POINT TO THE HYDRAULIC PUMP GEARSHAFT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE PARTS CAN OCCUR.
1 Install the mating ring (1) on the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL. 2 Turn the outer sleeve clockwise until the fingers engage the mating ring (1).
(f) Align the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL with the hydraulic pump gearshaft.
(g) Put the mating ring (1) on the hydraulic pump gearshaft and push until it stops.
NOTE: If the mating ring (1) is correctly installed, the hydraulic pump gearshaft turns together with the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL.
(h) Make sure that the mating ring (1) four anti-rotation tabs engage the slots on bearing. Turn the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL with the handle to do this. (i) Fully turn the outer sleeve counterclockwise to disengage the mating ring (1).
(j) Remove the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL.
(3) Make sure the PWA211777 TESTER, GAGE is correctly calibrated to the correct depth as follows:
(a) Install the PWA211777 TESTER, GAGE onto the PWA211780 TESTER, CALIBRATION at the location marked "HP".
(b) Make sure the mating surface is fully in contact with the PWA211780 TESTER, CALIBRATION.
(c) If the surfaces are not in contact, contact P&W.
(4) Make sure that the mating ring (1) is correctly installed as follows:
Check of Correct Installation of the Mating Ring on the Hydraulic Pump Gearshaft ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Push until the tester stops and hold it in position.
(c) Look at the pin.
1 If you cannot see the red band of the pin, the mating ring (1) is correctly installed.
2 Go to the step 4.A.(6).
3 If you can see the red band of the pin, the mating ring (1) is not correctly installed.
4 Remove the mating ring (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-00-020-801).
5 Do the step 4.A.(2) thru step 4.A.(4) again.
(5) Install the hydraulic pump gearshaft carbon face seal, contact P&W.
(6) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage, and correct assembly.
