Removal of the Mating Ring from the Fuel Pump Gearshaft
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
ALWAYS USE APPLICABLE GLOVES TO TOUCH HOT PARTS. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.

4. ProcedureCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 72-61-00-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Removal of the Mating Ring from the Fuel Pump Gearshaft
(1) Remove the mating ring (1) from the fuel pump gearshaft as follows:
(a) Prepare a PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL as follows:
1 Make sure that the fingers of the bush are open. If not, fully turn the outer sleeve counter-clockwise.
2 Fully turn the shaft clockwise to lower the centering.
(b) Put in position the centering onto the fuel pump gearshaft.
(c) Make sure that the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL aligns with the fuel pump gearshaft.
(d) Turn the shaft counter-clockwise until the protector touches the mating ring (1).
(e) Turn the outer sleeve clockwise until the fingers engage the mating ring (1).
(f) Hold the handle and turn the shaft clockwise until you remove the mating ring (1).
(g) Fully turn the outer sleeve counter-clockwise to disengage the mating ring (1).
(h) Remove the mating ring (1).
(i) Remove the packing (2) from the mating ring (1) and discard it.
(2) Installation of the protection covers
(1) Remove the mating ring (1) from the fuel pump gearshaft as follows:
(a) Prepare a PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL as follows:
1 Make sure that the fingers of the bush are open. If not, fully turn the outer sleeve counter-clockwise.
2 Fully turn the shaft clockwise to lower the centering.
(b) Put in position the centering onto the fuel pump gearshaft.
(c) Make sure that the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL aligns with the fuel pump gearshaft.
(d) Turn the shaft counter-clockwise until the protector touches the mating ring (1).
(e) Turn the outer sleeve clockwise until the fingers engage the mating ring (1).
(f) Hold the handle and turn the shaft clockwise until you remove the mating ring (1).
(g) Fully turn the outer sleeve counter-clockwise to disengage the mating ring (1).
(h) Remove the mating ring (1).
(i) Remove the packing (2) from the mating ring (1) and discard it.
(2) Installation of the protection covers
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
