3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-56-00-860-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the flame arrestor and the flange assembly are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 72-56-00-000-003).
4. Procedure
Subtask 72-56-00-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Oil Inlet Cover (30)
   (1) Lubricate a new AIPC 72-56-00-02-080 O-RING (50) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (2) Install the O-ring (50) on the nipple (40), with the 856A2794 TOOL SET SEAL FITTING AGB-TGB (856A2794G01).
   (3) Install the nipple (40) on the oil inlet cover.
Tighten by hand to seat.
   (4) TORQUE the nipple (40) to between 195.3 and 176.7 lbf.in (2.21 and 2.00 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Safety the nipple (40) to the oil inlet cover (30) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (6) Lubricate a new
AIPC 72-56-00-02-130 O-RING (60) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (7) Install the O-ring (60) in the front groove on the oil inlet cover (30).

PRE SB CFMI 72-259
   (8) Not applicable.
NOTE: PRE SB CFMI 72-259 engines do not have gasket seal.

POST SB CFMI 72-259
   (9) Position a new AIPC 72-56-00-02-140 GASKET SEAL (10) on the oil inlet cover (30).

   (10) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (20) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
   (11) Install the oil inlet cover (30) with the 856A3419G02 ADAPTER, PULLER - OIL INLET COVER in the LPT frame. Match the position of the oil inlet cover flange offset hole with the offset hole of the No. 5 bearing support.
   (12) Attach the oil inlet cover (30) to the No. 5 bearing support with bolts (20).
   (13) TORQUE the bolts (20) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (14) Safety bolts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.

B. Installation of the Rear Sump Oil Supply Tube (70).

   (1) Connect the rear sump oil supply tube (70) to the nipple (40).
Tighten the coupling nut by hand.
   (2) Install the end fitting (80) of the rear sump oil supply tube (70), on the LPT frame.
   (3) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (90) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (4) Attach the end fitting (80) to the LPT frame with 2 bolts (90).
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (5) TORQUE the coupling nut of the oil supply tube on the nipple (40) to between 310 and 270 lbf.in (3.50 and 3.05 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Safety the coupling nuts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (7) TORQUE bolts (90) to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN )
T.
   (8) Safety bolts (90) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.

C. Installation of the Rear Sump Oil Supply Tubes (100), (120).

   (1) Put the oil supply tubes (100) and (120) in position.
   (2) Connect the rear sump oil supply tube (120) to the nipple (40).
Tighten the coupling nut by hand.
   (3) Connect the damping oil tube (100) to the nipple (110) and to the oil supply tube (120).
Tighten the coupling nuts by hand.
   (4) Install the end fitting (80) of the rear sump oil supply tube (120) on the LPT frame.
   (5) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (90) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (6) Attach the end fitting (80) to the LPT frame with bolts (90).
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (7) TORQUE the coupling nut of the oil supply tube (120) to the nipple (40) to between 310 and 270 lbf.in (3.50 and 3.05 m.daN ) T.
   (8) Safety the coupling nut with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (9) TORQUE bolts (90) to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN )
T.
   (10) Safety bolts (90) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (11) TORQUE the coupling nuts of the damping oil tube (100) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (12) Safety the coupling nuts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.

D. Installation of the Oil Supply Tubes (100), (130) and (140).
POST SB CFMI 72-364
   (1) Put the oil supply tubes (100) and (130) in position.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SLEEVE LOCKING NUT OF THE OIL SUPPLY TUBE IN THE LPT FRAME HUB IS LOOSENED.
   (2) Connect the oil supply tube (130) to the nipple (40) and to the oil supply tube (140).
Tighten the coupling nuts by hand.
   (3) Connect the damping oil tube (100) to the nipple (110) of the No. 5 bearing support and to the oil supply tube (130).
Tighten the coupling nuts by hand.
   (4) Install the end fitting (80) of the rear sump oil supply tube (140) on the LPT frame.
   (5) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (90) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (6) Attach the end fitting (80) to the LPT frame with bolts (90).
   (7) Tighten the sleeve locking nut by hand.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (8) Make sure the oil tubes are installed without strain.
   (9) TORQUE both coupling nuts of the oil tube (130) to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN ) T.
   (10) Safety the coupling nuts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (11) TORQUE the sleeve locking nut to between 55 and 50 lbf.in (0.62 and 0.57 m.daN )
T.
   (12) Safety the sleeve locking nut with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (13) TORQUE the two bolts (90) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
T.
   (14) Safety bolts (90) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (15) Torque of the damping oil tube
CAUTION: HOLD THE DAMPING OIL TUBE WITH SOFT NOSE PLIERS WHEN YOU TORQUE THE UNION NUT. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TUBE.
     (a) Hold the damping oil tube with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
TORQUE the union nut of the damping oil tube (100) connected to nipple of the No. 5 bearing support to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (16) Make sure that the damping oil tube (100) is installed without strain as follows:
     (a) Loosen the union nut of the damping oil tube connected on the oil tube (130).
     (b) Make sure that the damping oil tube is installed without strain, and in line with the nipple of the oil tube (130).
     (c) If necessary, bend the damping oil tube in bent sections. Do not bend the tube near end fittings.
   (17) Reconnect the coupling nut of the damping oil tube (100) to the oil tube (130). Tighten the coupling nut with hand.
   (18) Torque of the damping oil tube
CAUTION: HOLD THE DAMPING OIL TUBE WITH SOFT NOSE PLIERS WHEN YOU TORQUE THE UNION NUT. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TUBE.
     (a) Hold the damping oil tube with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
TORQUE the union nut of damping tube (100) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (19) Safety the coupling nuts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.

E. Installation of the Oil Supply Tubes (100), (130) and (140).
POST SB CFMI 72-430
   (1) Put the oil supply tubes (100) and (130) in position.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SLEEVE LOCKING NUT OF THE OIL SUPPLY TUBE IN THE LPT FRAME HUB IS LOOSENED.
   (2) Connect the oil supply tube (130) to the nipple (40) and to the oil supply tube (140).
Tighten the coupling nuts by hand.
   (3) Connect the damping oil tube (100) to the nipple (110) of the No. 5 bearing support and to the oil supply tube (130).
Tighten the coupling nuts by hand.
   (4) Install the end fitting (80) of the rear sump oil supply tube (140) on the LPT frame.
   (5) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (90) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (6) Attach the end fitting (80) to the LPT frame with bolts (90).
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (7) Make sure the oil tubes are installed without strain.
   (8) TORQUE both coupling nuts of the oil tube (130) to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN ) T.
   (9) Safety the coupling nuts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (10) TORQUE the two bolts (90) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
T.
   (11) Safety bolts (90) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (12) Torque of the damping oil tube
CAUTION: HOLD THE DAMPING OIL TUBE WITH SOFT NOSE PLIERS WHEN YOU TORQUE THE UNION NUT. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TUBE.
     (a) Hold the damping oil tube with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
TORQUE the union nut of the damping oil tube (100) connected to nipple of the No. 5 bearing support to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (13) Make sure that the damping oil tube (100) is installed without strain as follows:
     (a) Loosen the union nut of the damping oil tube connected on the oil tube (130).
     (b) Make sure that the damping oil tube is installed without strain and in line with the nipple of the oil tube (130).
     (c) If necessary, bend the damping oil tube in bent sections. Do not bend the tube near end fittings.
   (14) Reconnect the coupling nut of the damping oil tube (100) to the oil tube (130). Tighten the coupling nut with hand.
   (15) Torque of the damping oil tube
CAUTION: HOLD THE DAMPING OIL TUBE WITH SOFT NOSE PLIERS WHEN YOU TORQUE THE UNION NUT. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TUBE.
     (a) Hold the damping oil tube with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
TORQUE the union nut of damping oil tube (100) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (16) Safety the coupling nuts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
