B. Installation of the Oil Supply Tubes
NOTE: This procedure is for Turbine Frame with Tangential Symmetrical Section Struts only.
NOTE: Make sure that Oil Supply Tube in the LPT frame is correctly positioned.
   (1) Put the oil supply tube (170) and the damping oil tube (200) in position.
   (2) Connect the oil supply tube (170) to the nipple (180) and to the oil supply tube (220). Tighten the coupling nuts by hand.
   (3) Connect the damping oil tube (200) to the nipple (210) of the No. 5 bearing support and to the oil supply tube (170). Tighten the coupling nuts by hand.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (4) Make sure the oil tubes are installed without strain.
   (5) TORQUE both coupling nuts of the oil tube (170) to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
   (6) Safety the coupling nuts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (7) Torque of the damping oil tube
CAUTION: HOLD THE DAMPING OIL TUBE WITH SOFT NOSE PLIERS WHEN YOU TORQUE THE UNION NUT. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TUBE.
     (a) Hold the damping oil tube with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
TORQUE the union nut of the damping oil tube (200) connected to nipple of the No. 5 bearing support to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (8) Make sure that the damping oil tube (200) is installed without strain as follows:
     (a) Loosen the union nut of the damping oil tube connected on the oil tube (170).
     (b) Make sure that the damping oil tube is installed without strain, and in line with the nipple of the oil tube (170).
     (c) If necessary, bend the damping oil tube in bent sections. Do not bend the tube near end fittings.
   (9) Reconnect the coupling nut of the damping oil tube (200) to the oil tube (170). Tighten the coupling nut with hand.
   (10) Torque of the damping oil tube
CAUTION: HOLD THE DAMPING OIL TUBE WITH SOFT NOSE PLIERS WHEN YOU TORQUE THE UNION NUT. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TUBE.
     (a) Hold the damping oil tube with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
TORQUE the union nut of damping oil tube (200) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (11) Do these steps to check the Dim. A
     (a) Do a check of Dim. A in four equally spaced locations. Dim. A must be minimum 0.078 in. (1.98 mm).
NOTE: The torqueing step must not cause the oil supply line to move.
     (b) If the Dim. A criterion is less than 0.078 in. (2 mm), do these steps:
1 Do a visual inspection of the oil supply line.
2 Do a torque check of the two coupling nuts of the oil supply tube (100).
3 Disconnect the oil supply tube (100).
4 Install the oil supply tube (100) again to get Dim. A within the minimum criterion of 0.078 in. (1.98 mm).
     (c) Make sure that there is no perforation in the insulation blanket of the oil supply tube.
     (d) If the Dim. A criterion stays less than 0.078 in. (1.98 mm) or if there is perforation in the insulation blanket, replace the oil supply tube (100).
   (12) Safety the coupling nuts with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
