A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 72-32-87-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 72-32-87-010-065-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

Subtask 72-32-87-620-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the IAE1J12187 COVER-PROTECTION LPC BLEED DUCT or equivalent around the bleed duct not to let unwanted material fall into the bleed duct.
(1) Put the canvas of the protection cover on the upper half of the bleed duct.
(2) Engage the hooks of the protection cover with the rings at the bottom position of the bleed duct to safety the protection cover.

(2) Engage the hooks of the protection cover with the rings at the bottom position of the bleed duct to safety the protection cover.
B. Removal of the front panels.
Pre SBE 72-0156
(1) Remove the two front liner panels in the front of No.1 strut if you remove the No.1 panel rubber seal.
Removal/Installation of Silicone Compound in Corner between No. 1 Panel Rubber Seal and No. 1 Strut ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

Subtask 72-32-87-020-085-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Pre SBE 72-0156
(1) Remove the two front liner panels in the front of No.1 strut if you remove the No.1 panel rubber seal.
Removal/Installation of Silicone Compound in Corner between No. 1 Panel Rubber Seal and No. 1 Strut ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
CAREFULLY USE A THIN BLADE CUTTER. THE CUTTER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE PANEL RUBBER SEAL AND THE FAN FRAME STRUT.
C. Cut the silicone rubber compound. SBE 72-0156
(1) Cut the silicone rubber compound between the No.1 panel rubber seal and the No.1 strut. Use a CUTTER - THIN BLADE.
D. Remove the screws and the nuts which attach the damaged panel rubber seals to the fan case.
Subtask 72-32-87-020-087-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL E. Remove the panel rubber seals.
(2) Remove the panel rubber seals.
(3) Use a SCRAPER to remove the remaining silicone rubber compound from the panel rubber seals, the fan frame strut and the fan case.
(4) Use a VACUUM CLEANER to remove all the remaining silicone rubber compound from the engine. Make sure that there is no silicone rubber compound in the engine.
CAUTION:
CAREFULLY USE A THIN BLADE CUTTER. THE CUTTER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE PANEL RUBBER SEALS AND THE FAN CASE.
(1) Cut the silicone rubber compound between the panel rubber seals and the fan case. Use a thin blade cutter. (2) Remove the panel rubber seals.
(3) Use a SCRAPER to remove the remaining silicone rubber compound from the panel rubber seals, the fan frame strut and the fan case.
(4) Use a VACUUM CLEANER to remove all the remaining silicone rubber compound from the engine. Make sure that there is no silicone rubber compound in the engine.
