Removal of the Aft Acoustical Panel
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 72-23-04-010-053-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.

B. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(2) Install the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL on the inlet cowl.
(3) Remove the front spinner (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-000-801).
4. Procedure(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(2) Install the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL on the inlet cowl.
(3) Remove the front spinner (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-000-801).
WARNING:
WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE AFT ACOUSTIC PANEL, BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT THE T12 SENSOR. IF YOU DO, THE T12 SENSOR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOU.
Subtask 72-23-04-000-050-A A. Removal of the Aft Acoustical Panel
(3) Remove the three bolts (3) that attach the aft acoustical panel (1) to the fan case (5).
(4) Remove the three bolts (2) that attach the aft acoustical panel (1) to the fan frame shroud (4).
(5) Remove the aft acoustical panel (1) from the engine.
(6) Do steps 4.A.(1) thru 4.A.(4) to remove the remaining five aft acoustical panels (1).
NOTE: This procedure gives the instructions to remove one aft acoustical panel (1). It is also applicable to the other aft acoustical panels (1).
(1) Remove the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-000-801). WARNING:
USE EYE PROTECTION WHEN YOU CUT MATERIAL OR PARTS. THE PARTICLES CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR EYES.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE SHARP OR POINTED TOOLS. THESE TOOLS CAN CAUSE AN INJURY TO YOU.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE A SHARP TOOL TO REMOVE THE ACOUSTIC PANELS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ACOUSTIC PANELS OR THE FAN BOOSTER CAN OCCUR.
(2) If RTV103 (Material No.CP2734) is visible, carefully cut and remove it from the aft acoustical panel (1).(3) Remove the three bolts (3) that attach the aft acoustical panel (1) to the fan case (5).
(4) Remove the three bolts (2) that attach the aft acoustical panel (1) to the fan frame shroud (4).
(5) Remove the aft acoustical panel (1) from the engine.
(6) Do steps 4.A.(1) thru 4.A.(4) to remove the remaining five aft acoustical panels (1).
