Installation of the Platform Front Shroud Balance Weight


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-21-43-941-052-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
     (c) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
     (d) Make sure that the MAT - PROTECTIVE is in position in the lower half of the inlet cowl.
4. Procedure
Subtask 72-21-43-750-050-A
A. Do this task in accordance with the trim fan balance (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-750-804).

B. Installation of the Front Shroud Platform Balance Weight
   (1) Install the 956A7016G01 SET, PROTECTOR - FAN DISK in the fan disk.
   (2) Install balance weight (1), bolt (5) and nut (4) as follows :
     (a) Lubricate the bolt (5) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
     (b) Install the bolt (5) and nut (4) to attach the front shroud platform Balance weight (1) on the platform front shroud (3) and tighten by hand.
     (c) TORQUE the bolt (5) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Do the above steps to install the remaining front shroud platform balance weight (1).
   (3) Install bolt (5) and nut (4) as follows :
     (a) Lubricate the bolt (5) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (b) Install the bolt (5) and nut (4) on the platform front shroud (3) and tighten by hand.
     (c) TORQUE the bolt (5) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Do the above steps to install the remaining front shroud platform bolt (5) and nut (4).
   (4) Remove the
956A7016G01 SET, PROTECTOR - FAN DISK from the fan disk.
   (5) Install the front spinner (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-400-801).

C. Update if necessary the record of the bolt and weight position into the EEC (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-710-804).
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
