(1) Put the MAT - PROTECTIVE inside the engine intake cowl and fan case inside surfaces.
(2) If you can get access to the repair area, remove the minimum number of fan blades as necessary to do the repair (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-000-801).
(3) Blend the surface damage on the leading edge of the vane of fan exit stator assembly by SPOP 533 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-28-00-910-802).
For the blend limits refer to Table 1 and
(a) You must not blend more than one vane.
(b) You can blend a maximum of three locations on the leading edge.
(c) The blend length must be a minimum of eight times the maximum blend depth.
(d) The blend radius must be a minimum of five times the maximum blend depth.
(e) After blending, the leading edge contour must be smooth and continuous.
(f) Unless specified differently, the depth mentioned in this repair represent the maximum blend depth permitted after repair and not the depth of damage before repair.
(4) Apply chromate conversion coating touch-up to the repaired area and any unprotected aluminum surfaces by SPOP 42 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-28-00-910-803).
(5) If removed, install the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-400-801).
(6) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE from the air intake cowl.
(7) Examine the assembly for unwanted objects, damage and correct assembly.
