A. Repair the Ice Liner Panel Segment Filler
   (1) Remove any loose or damaged filler between the ice liner panel segments as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT CAUSE:
  • DAMAGE TO THE FIBERGLASS FABRIC INSERT AND THE ICE LINER EDGE.
  • DISBOND BETWEEN THE ICE LINER AND THE FIBERGLASS FABRIC INSERT.
     (a) Touch and identify the existing filler material to determine if the material is hard or rubbery.
NOTE: There can be two types of material used in the original fan case manufacture process.
     (b) If the filler material is hard, remove any loose, cracked, discolored or damaged filler material in the repair area by using the P05-260spatula, acrylic or fiber or by sanding.
     (c) If the filler material is rubbery, remove all filler material at the repair location using the SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
   (2) Clean the repair area by SPOP 208. Use the P11-078alcohol, isopropyl or the acetone (Material No.P11-065) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
   (3) Perform a visual inspection to confirm the fiberglass fabric insert has not been damaged and the ice liner edge has not been delaminated. Perform a visual inspection to confirm that there is no crack or separation between the ice liner and the fiberglass fabric insert. Perform a tap test of the ice liner near the repair area to ensure that the ice liner has not disbonded from the fiberglass fabric insert.
   (4) Prepare the surface for repair using the P05-146abrasive paper, silicon carbide, P05-253paper, abrasive or the P05-274paper, abrasive.
   (5) Clean the repair area by SPOP 208. Use the P11-078alcohol, isopropyl or the acetone (Material No.P11-065) . Allow the surface to air-dry at 60 deg.F (16 deg.C) to 90 deg.F (32 deg.C) for a minimum of 15 minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
   (6) Fill the repair area per PWA 615 using a P08-016adhesive paste, epoxy, non-thixotropic or a P08-025adhesive paste, epoxy, thixotropic except the repair may occur in a clean area as follows:
     (a) Mix the repair material in the following proportions by step 4.A.(6).(a).1_ or step 4.A.(6).(a).2_:
       1 P08-016adhesive paste, epoxy, non-thixotropic Part A 100 Parts to Part B 33 Parts.
       2 P08-025adhesive paste, epoxy, thixotropic Part A 100 Parts to Part B 17 Parts.
NOTE: These mixtures have a 60 minutes life after mixing.
     (b) Fill the repair area and make smooth the filler surface by the KNIFE - PUTTY or the P05-260spatula, acrylic or fiber.
     (c) Cure the adhesive by step 4.A.(6).(c).1_ or step 4.A.(6).(c).2_:
       1 4 hours minimum at 60 deg.F (16 deg.C) to 90 deg.F (32 deg.C) followed by 1.5 hour minimum at 140 deg.F (60 deg.C) to 160 deg.F (71 deg.C).
       2 24 hours minimum at 60 deg.F (16 deg.C) to 90 deg.F (32 deg.C).
   (7) After the filler material is cured, remove excess filler materials to the adjacent contour with a P05-146abrasive paper, silicon carbide, P05-253paper, abrasive, P05-274paper, abrasive or equivalent. Do a visual inspection for the step between the filler and adjacent area.
   (8) Use a VACUUM CLEANER to remove chips and debris, paying particular attention to the bottom of the fan case.
   (9) Clean the repair area by SPOP 208. Use the P11-078alcohol, isopropyl or the acetone (Material No.P11-065) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
5. Close-up
Subtask 72-21-01-410-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
