Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI) of the Fan Case Ice Liner Panel Segments [PW11]
TASK 72-21-01-220-803-A
Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI) of the Fan Case Ice Liner Panel Segments
Use this procedure to do a Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI) of the fan case ice liner panel segments. If you see damage, this procedure will refer you to a more Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI) for limits and dispositions.
Do not use this inspection if you think that the engine had a Foreign Object Damage (FOD) event or birdstrike event. Refer task AMM 72-00-00-210-807 to do an inspection of the engine after birdstrike (FOD).
For more information about the fan case, refer to (72-21-00-00U).

(1) Put an 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or equivalent MAT - PROTECTIVE inside the engine inlet cowl and on the inside surfaces of the fan case.
(2) Do a visual inspection of the fan case ice liner panel segments. See Table 1 and the figure:
Table 1: Fan Case Ice Liner Panel Segments - Visual Inspection
(3) In areas where you can see object damage on the fan case ice liner panel segments, do a tap test as follows to find areas of bad or broken bond:
(a) Use a small piece of metal, such as a coin, to tap the area where there is damage and then tap the adjacent area.
(b) If there is a difference in the sound there is delamination.
(4) Remove the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or equivalent MAT - PROTECTIVE from the inside of the air intake cowl.
(5) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-up(1) Put an 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or equivalent MAT - PROTECTIVE inside the engine inlet cowl and on the inside surfaces of the fan case.

| EXAMINE | DAMAGE | DISPOSITION |
|---|---|---|
| Ice liner panel segments for: | | |
| Dents | All quantities with smooth round bottoms that do not break the bond between the honeycomb material and the ice liner segment. | Permitted for continued service. |
| Cuts, cracks, gouges or tears | All quantities in the ice liner segment | Not permitted. Remove the engine in 50 flight hours or less. |
| Broken adhesive bond | All quantities not more than 6 in.2 (3870.96 mm2) between the honeycomb material and the ice liner segment, where the ice liner segment does not extend into the airstream. | Not permitted. Remove the engine in 50 flight hours or less. |
