BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY TO THE HANDS WHEN YOU TOUCH OR HOLD THE FAN BLADES. THE BLADE EDGES ARE SHARP AND CAN CUT THE HANDS.

DO NOT REMOVE POLYURETHANE COAT THAT IS TIGHTLY BONDED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE FAN BLADE CAN OCCUR.

MAKE SURE THAT THE BLADE SURFACE HAS NO NICKS, SCRATCHES OR OTHER SIGNS OF DAMAGE WHEN YOU USE A RAZOR BLADE OR DURING THE REPAIR PROCEDURE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE FAN BLADE CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
(2) Put the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or equivalent and the MAT - PROTECTIVE on the engine intake cowl to protect the inner surfaces.

Subtask 72-11-03-350-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do an Erosion Coat Touch-Up Repair of the Fan Blade Assembly
(2) Remove all loose or not bonded black erosion-coat with the BLADE - RAZOR, SCISSORS, KNIFE- RAZOR or other equivalent cutting tool.
(3) Do a visual inspection of the repair area(s) as follows:
(a) Make sure that all loose or not bonded erosion-coat is removed.
(b) Make sure that there are no nicks, scratches or damage to the fan-blade parent metal.
(c) Make sure that there is no damaged, loose or missing epoxy filler compound at the seam between the fan blade and fan blade cover and/or behind the Leading Edge (LE) sheath.
(d) Make sure that there is no damage through theP18-018 primer, epoxy, corrosion inhibiting .
(4) Clean the repair area(s) by PWA 83-A4 with the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) and the acetone (Material No.P11-065) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-810).
(5) Coating on the damaged area(s):
P05-145 tape, masking polyester film (mylar) or the P05-437 tape, pressure sensitive polyester . Keep a minimum distance of 0.125 in. (3.175 mm) from the damage edge. For repairs adjacent to the LE sheath, put the P05-145 tape, masking polyester film (mylar) or the P05-437 tape, pressure sensitive polyester on the titanium LE.
(b) Clean the repair area(s) as follows:
1 Wipe the repair area(s) outboard with theP05-038 cheesecloth - bleached, new, woven, unsized and the acetone (Material No.P11-065) .
2 Wait for five minutes for the acetone (Material No.P11-065) to dry.
3 Make the repair and adjacent area(s) rough with theP05-422 pad, scrub and the acetone (Material No.P11-065) .
4 Wipe the repair area(s) with theP05-038 cheesecloth - bleached, new, woven, unsized and the acetone (Material No.P11-065) .
5 Wait for five minutes for the acetone (Material No.P11-065) to dry.
6 Make the repair and adjacent area(s) rough with theP05-422 pad, scrub and the acetone (Material No.P11-065) .
7 Wipe the repair area(s) with theP05-038 cheesecloth - bleached, new, woven, unsized and the acetone (Material No.P11-065) .
8 Wait for five minutes for the acetone (Material No.P11-065) to dry.
9 Refer to Table 601 and examine the repair area(s) again to make sure that the repair area(s) is (are) still in the approved limits.
(c) Mix theP18-018 primer, epoxy, corrosion inhibiting by the manufacturer's instructions. Acetone (Material No.P11-065) can be used as an alternative for the demineralized water (Material No.P05-060) to mix the P18-018 primer, epoxy, corrosion inhibiting , if necessary.
P18-018 primer, epoxy, corrosion inhibiting with the new no. 4 P05-126 brush, short bristle nylon . It is necessary to apply a coat of no more than 0.125 in. (3.175 mm) onto the adjacent polyurethane.
P18-018 primer, epoxy, corrosion inhibiting dry at room temperature and then remove the P05-145 tape, masking polyester film (mylar) or P05-437 tape, pressure sensitive polyester .
(f) Cure theP18-018 primer, epoxy, corrosion inhibiting by one of the steps that follow:
1 Cure at 130 deg.F (54 deg.C) to 170 deg.F (77 deg.C) for a minimum of 30 minutes.
2 Cure at 60 deg.F (16 deg.C) to 90 deg.F (32 deg.C) for a minimum of six hours.
(g) Keep the repair area(s) free from contamination until theP05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant is applied.
(6) Replace the LEP05-145 tape, masking polyester film (mylar) or the P05-437 tape, pressure sensitive polyester .
(7) Mix theP05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant by the manufacturer's instructions.
(8) Apply a single coat of theP05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant with the new P05-126 brush, short bristle nylon as follows:
P05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant again in a crosshatch pattern to a thickness equal to the height of the adjacent, non-damaged erosion-resistant coat.
P05-145 tape, masking polyester film (mylar) or the P05-437 tape, pressure sensitive polyester between coats if it shows the P05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant build up. Do not wipe with solvent before or after you apply the P05-145 tape, masking polyester film (mylar) or the P05-437 tape, pressure sensitive polyester again.
(c) Make sure that the overcoat on the adjacent, non-damaged erosion-resistant coat is not more than 0.125 in. (3.175 mm).
(9) Let theP05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant air dry for 15 minutes and then remove the P05-145 tape, masking polyester film (mylar) or the P05-437 tape, pressure sensitive polyester .
(10) Blend the edges of the appliedP05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant with the P05-126 brush, short bristle nylon .
P05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant by one of the methods that follow:
(a) Cure at 130 deg.F (54 deg.C) to 170 deg.F (77 deg.C) for a minimum of four hours.
(b) Cure at 60 deg.F (16 deg.C) to 90 deg.F (32 deg.C) for a minimum of seven days.
(12) Clean the repair area(s) with the cleanP05-422 pad, scrub and wipe them outboard with the clean P05-038 cheesecloth - bleached, new, woven, unsized and the acetone (Material No.P11-065) .
(13) Do a visual inspection of the repair area(s). Make sure that there is no lifting or blistering of theP05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant .
(14) Make the repair area(s) adjacent to the titanium LE rough with the dryP05-422 pad, scrub to remove the unwanted P18-018 primer, epoxy, corrosion inhibiting and the P05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant . The finished epoxy erosion coat must be flush to below the LE sheath.
(15) If the repaired area(s) is (are) at the interface of the LE sheath, do an approved adhesion acceptance test to the repaired area(s) adjacent to the LE. Make sure that there is no lifting of theP05-154 coating, polyurethane, erosion resistant (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-700-801).
(16) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE from the engine intake cowl.

5. Close-upCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Refer to Table 601 and examine the damaged fan-blade erosion-coat surfaces. (2) Remove all loose or not bonded black erosion-coat with the BLADE - RAZOR, SCISSORS, KNIFE- RAZOR or other equivalent cutting tool.
(3) Do a visual inspection of the repair area(s) as follows:
(a) Make sure that all loose or not bonded erosion-coat is removed.
(b) Make sure that there are no nicks, scratches or damage to the fan-blade parent metal.
(c) Make sure that there is no damaged, loose or missing epoxy filler compound at the seam between the fan blade and fan blade cover and/or behind the Leading Edge (LE) sheath.
(d) Make sure that there is no damage through the
(4) Clean the repair area(s) by PWA 83-A4 with the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) and the acetone (Material No.P11-065) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-810).

DO NOT APPLY COAT TO THE LEADING EDGE SHEATH. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE PART CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT EPOXY PRIMER DOES NOT GO ON THE POLYURETHANE TOP COAT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE COAT CAN OCCUR.
