Detailed Inspection of Fan Blades
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY TO THE HANDS WHEN YOU TOUCH OR HOLD THE FAN BLADES. THE BLADE EDGES ARE SHARP AND CAN CUT THE HANDS.

WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 72-11-03-210-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Visual Inspection of the Fan Blades for Erosion
(1) Put the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or the MAT - PROTECTIVE in the engine inlet.
(2) Use the GLOVES - PROTECTIVE when you touch the fan blades.
(3) Use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do a visual inspection of the fan blades for erosion. Refer to Table 1 for inspection limits.

5. Close-up(1) Put the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or the MAT - PROTECTIVE in the engine inlet.
(2) Use the GLOVES - PROTECTIVE when you touch the fan blades.
(3) Use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do a visual inspection of the fan blades for erosion. Refer to Table 1 for inspection limits.
NOTE: Erosion can be found by the light touch across the leading edge. Erosion on the leading edge is identified by rough, sandpaper-like texture.
NOTE: See sheet 3 for examples of the leading edge contours.

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE or 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER inside the engine inlet.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
