A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
4. Procedure
Subtask 72-11-01-350-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Repair of the Inlet Cone
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: REMOVE AND INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU USE A RAZOR KNIFE TO REMOVE THE DAMAGED PROTECTIVE COAT, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE MORE DAMAGE TO THE FIBERGLASS LAYER.
   (1) Remove the damaged fluoroelastomer protective coating until the fiberglass layer shows as follows:
NOTE: You can fill in small pits and scratches found in the fluoroelastomer coating, but removal is not necessary.
     (a) Use a KNIFE- RAZOR to cut the loose coating around the damaged area.
     (b) Abrade the repair area with emery paper (Material No.P05-055) to make sure that all loose or lifted fluoroelastomer is removed. You can use P05-138cloth, aluminum oxide and P05-204cloth, aluminum oxide abrasive as an alternative to emery paper.
   (2) Clean the repair areas by PWA 83-D4. Refer to (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-810).
   (3) Apply a PAPER - MASKING to areas with no damage as a protection.
   (4) Application of fluoroelastomer coating:
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
     (a) For repair in area R, apply P05-372PWA 36516 coating, fluoroelastomer (black) as follows:
1 Use a P05-067brush, soft bristle, nonmetallic and apply sufficient layers to make the repaired area flush to 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) above the adjacent undamaged coating. Let each layer dry for a minimum of 20 minutes between each new layer applied.
NOTE: P05-372PWA 36516−6 coating, fluoroelastomer (black), is a paste and can collect thickness more quickly than P05-372PWA 36516−5 coating, fluoroelastomer (black) (A smaller number of layers is necessary to get a specified coating thickness with P05-372PWA 36516−6 coating, fluoroelastomer (black) than with P05-372PWA 36516−5 coating, fluoroelastomer (black).
     (b) For repair in area S (white turn stripe), repair the P05-372PWA 36516−5 coating, fluoroelastomer (black) or P05-372PWA 36516−6 coating, fluoroelastomer (black) flush to the adjacent black layer in area R below the white layer. Put P05-374PWA 36516 coating, fluoroelastomer on the coat as follows:
1 If necessary, to apply the coat smoothly, add PMC 1914 acetone (Material No.P11-065) to the mixture to make it more liquid.
2 Use a P05-067brush, soft bristle, nonmetallic and apply sufficient layers to make the repaired area 0.005 in. (0.127 mm) to 0.015 in. (0.381 mm) after the cure. Let each layer dry for a minimum of 20 minutes between each new layer applied.
   (5) Remove the PAPER - MASKING from the protected areas.
   (6) Cure the repaired areas as follows:
     (a) Air dry at room temperature for 60 minutes minimum.
     (b) Oven dry at 250 DEG.F (121 DEG.C) for 60 minutes minimum.
   (7) If necessary, to get a smooth matte finish, use an P05-204cloth, aluminum oxide abrasive and wet sand the repaired area.
   (8) If Para. 4.(A)(7) was done, clean the repaired area with a clean P05-005cloth, cotton, lint free moist with PMC 9094 isopropyl alcohol (Material No.P11-014) .
   (9) Do a visual inspection of the inlet cone cover.
   (10) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-up
