Inspection after Engine Windmilling
CAUTION:
ENGINE MALFUNCTIONS THAT CAUSE INFLIGHT SHUTDOWNS MUST BE INVESTIGATED/CORRECTED BEFORE ENGINE OPERATION RELATED WITH THESE PROCEDURES.
CAUTION:
IF, DURING ENGINE OPERATION, THE ECAM WARNING MESSAGE ”ENG 1(2) OIL LO PR” COMES INTO VIEW AND THE RED MASTER WARN LIGHT FLASHES, CONTACT CTS AND GIVE THEM THE DFDR DATA FOR EVENT. DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE MAIN BEARING CAN OCCUR IN THESE CONDITIONS.
ZONE: 400
1. Reason for the JobEngines which have windmilled as a result of shut-down in flight must have the inspection/checks that follow, done before engine is operated again.
NOTE: Operating conditions before and after shutdown and windmilling, must be accurately recorded to find classification of windmill and to make sure that there are records for future reference.

A. Inspection of the Engine after Windmilling
(1) If there was continuous positive indication of oil pressure, 5 psig or higher, do the steps that follow after shut-down:
(a) Do an inspection of the MCD's (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-200-011).
(b) Do an inspection of the oil filters (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-200-012).
(c) If the engine is found serviceable per the AMM tasks referenced in Para 4.A.(1).(a) and Para 4.A.(1).(b), service the oil system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011) and return the engine to service.
(2) If there was not continuous positive indication of oil pressure, less than 5 psig, do the steps that follow:
(a) If windmilling with less than 5 psig oil pressure was less than 30 minutes:
1 Inspect oil quantity (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011).
a Oil quantity is zero, check for and correct oil leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-200-010), service engine (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011) then continue with Para 4.A.(2).(a).1_.b_.
b Oil quantity is above zero, verify oil pump is in working condition by dry motoring engine for 10-20 seconds and monitoring for positive oil pressure.
(b) If windmilling with less than 5 psig oil pressure was longer than 30 minutes:
1 Inspect oil quantity (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011).
a Oil quantity is zero, remove the engine, detail inspect all bearings.
b Oil quantity is above zero, verify oil pump is in working condition by dry motoring engine for 10-20 seconds and monitoring for positive oil pressure.
a Troubleshooting confirms oil pressure indication system to be defective, correct the issue and test by dry motoring engine for 10-20 seconds to verify positive oil pressure.
(d) Do an inspection of the oil filters (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-200-012).
(e) Do the servicing of the oil system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011).
(f) Do the test No.3 idle leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-012).
(g) If the engine is found serviceable per Para 4.A.(2).(a) or Para 4.A.(2).(b) and is also found serviceable per Para 4.A.(2).(c), Para 4.A.(2).(d), Para 4.A.(2).(e) and Para 4.A.(2).(f), return the engine to service.
AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011) and return the engine to service.

b Oil quantity is above zero, verify oil pump is in working condition by dry motoring engine for 10-20 seconds and monitoring for positive oil pressure.
- Positive pressure is observed, continue to Para 4.A.(2).(c).
- Positive pressure is not observed, continue to Para 4.A.(2).(a).2_.
(b) If windmilling with less than 5 psig oil pressure was longer than 30 minutes:
1 Inspect oil quantity (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011).
