A. Safety Precautions

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.

A. Installation of the Inlet Cowl Ground Straps
(a) Make sure that you remove the aft bulkhead T2 panel. (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-11-000-801)
(b) Attach the T2 grounding strap (17) to the T2 probe.
1 Clean the faying surface of the T2 probe and the T2 probe grouding strap (17) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
2 Brush Bonderite M-CR 1132 Aero (Material No.PU2-0003) on the faying surface. Refer to manufacturer's instructions.
4 TORQUE the nut (18) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )
.
5 Measure the resistance between the T2 probe grounding strap (17) lug and the nut (18). Make sure it is less than 0.0025 ohms.
6 If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and repeat the Para. 4.A.(1)(b).1_ thru the Para. 4.A.(1)(b).5_.
7 Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) on the screw (22), washers (19), nut (18) and T2 probe grounding strap (17) lug.
1 Clean the faying surfaces of the T2 disconnect panel and the T2 probe grounding strap (17) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
2 Brush Bonderite M-CR 1132 Aero (Material No.PU2-0003) on the faying surface. Refer to instructions of the manufacturer.
4 TORQUE the nut (26) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
.
5 Measure the resistance between the T2 probe grounding strap (17) lug and the nut (26). Make sure it is less than 0.0025 ohms.
6 If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and repeat steps 4.A.(1)(c)1_ and step 4.A.(1)(c)6_.
7 Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) on the screw (21), washers (19) and (20), nut (26), and T2 probe grounding strap (17) lug.
9 Attach the T2 probe grounding strap (17) and clamp (25) to the upper T2 harness bracket with the bolt (23) and washer (24).
10 TORQUE the bolt (23) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
.
(2) Install the upper grounding strap (4).
(a) Clean the ground bracket on the inlet cowl, the screw on the engine case and upper grounding strap (4) terminals with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(b) Attach the upper grounding strap (4) to the ground bracket on the inlet cowl with the screw (1) and two washers (2).
1 TORQUE the screw (1) to between 175 and 157.5 lbf.in (1.98 and 1.78 m.daN )
.
(c) Attach the upper grounding strap (4) to the screw on the engine case flange with the nut (3).
1 TORQUE the nut (3) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
.
(d) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the fan cowl support beam bracket with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(e) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the screw (1) and two washers (2) and do the Para. 4.A.(2).(a), the Para. 4.A.(2).(b) and the Para. 4.A.(2).(d).
(f) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the nut on the engine with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(g) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the nut (3) and do the Para. 4.A.(2).(a), the Para. 4.A.(2).(b) and the Para. 4.A.(2).(d) again.
(3) Install right grounding strap (6).
(a) Clean the ground bracket on the inlet cowl, the screw on the engine case and right grounding strap (6) terminals with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(b) Attach the right grounding strap (6) to the ground bracket on the inlet cowl with the screw (7) and two washers (8).
1 TORQUE the screw (7) to between 175 and 157.5 lbf.in (1.98 and 1.78 m.daN )
.
(c) Attach the right grounding strap (6) to the screw on the engine case flange with the nut (5).
1 TORQUE the nut (5) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
.
(d) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the nut on the engine case with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(e) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the screw (7), two washers (8) and nut (5) and do the Para. 4.A.(3).(a) thru the Para. 4.A.(3).(d) again.
(4) Install the lower left grounding strap (9).
(a) Clean the ground bracket on the inlet cowl, the screw on the engine case and the lower left grounding strap (9) terminals with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(b) Attach the lower left grounding strap (9) to the ground bracket on the inlet cowl with the screw (12) and two washers (11).
1 TORQUE the screw (12) to between 175 and 157.5 lbf.in (1.98 and 1.78 m.daN )
.
(c) Attach the lower left grounding strap (9) to the bolt on the engine case flange with the nut (10).
1 TORQUE the nut (10) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
.
(d) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the nut on the engine case with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(e) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the screw (12), two washers (11) and nut (10) and do the Para. 4.A.(4).(a) thru the Para. 4.A.(4).(d) again.
(5) Install the lower left grounding strap (13).
(a) Clean the ground bracket on the inlet cowl, the screw on the engine case and the lower left grounding strap (13) terminals with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(b) Attach the lower grounding strap (13) to the ground bracket on the inlet cowl with the screw (16) and two washers (15).
1 TORQUE the screw (16) to between 175 and 157.5 lbf.in (1.98 and 1.78 m.daN )
.
(c) Attach the lower grounding strap (13) to the bolt on the engine case flange with the nut (14).
1 TORQUE the nut (14) to to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
.
(d) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the nut on the engine case with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(e) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the screw (16), two washers (15) and nut (14) and do the Para. 4.A.(5).(a) thru 4.A.(5)(d) again.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Install the T2 grounding strap (17). (a) Make sure that you remove the aft bulkhead T2 panel. (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-11-000-801)
(b) Attach the T2 grounding strap (17) to the T2 probe.
1 Clean the faying surface of the T2 probe and the T2 probe grouding strap (17) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and the
2 Brush Bonderite M-CR 1132 Aero (Material No.PU2-0003) on the faying surface. Refer to manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: Make sure that you brush the Bonderite M-CR 1132 Aero (Material No.PU2-0003) on the faying surface in less than three hours after you removed the coating.
3 Attach the T2 probe grounding strap (17) to the T2 probe with the screw (22), two washers (19) and nut (18). 4 TORQUE the nut (18) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )
. 5 Measure the resistance between the T2 probe grounding strap (17) lug and the nut (18). Make sure it is less than 0.0025 ohms.
6 If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and repeat the Para. 4.A.(1)(b).1_ thru the Para. 4.A.(1)(b).5_.
7 Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) on the screw (22), washers (19), nut (18) and T2 probe grounding strap (17) lug.
NOTE: Make sure that you apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) on all bare metal as necessary.
(c) Attach the T2 probe grounding strap (17) to the T2 disconnect panel. 1 Clean the faying surfaces of the T2 disconnect panel and the T2 probe grounding strap (17) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and the
2 Brush Bonderite M-CR 1132 Aero (Material No.PU2-0003) on the faying surface. Refer to instructions of the manufacturer.
NOTE: Make sure that you brush the Bonderite M-CR 1132 Aero (Material No.PU2-0003) on the faying surface in less than three hours after you removed the coating.
3 Attach the T2 probe grounding strap (17) to the T2 disconnect panel. Use the screw (21), washer (20), four washers (19) and nut (26). 4 TORQUE the nut (26) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
. 5 Measure the resistance between the T2 probe grounding strap (17) lug and the nut (26). Make sure it is less than 0.0025 ohms.
6 If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the hardware and repeat steps 4.A.(1)(c)1_ and step 4.A.(1)(c)6_.
7 Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) on the screw (21), washers (19) and (20), nut (26), and T2 probe grounding strap (17) lug.
NOTE: Make sure that you apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) on all bare metal as necessary.
8 Put the clamp (25) on the T2 probe grounding strap (17). 9 Attach the T2 probe grounding strap (17) and clamp (25) to the upper T2 harness bracket with the bolt (23) and washer (24).
10 TORQUE the bolt (23) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
. (2) Install the upper grounding strap (4).
(a) Clean the ground bracket on the inlet cowl, the screw on the engine case and upper grounding strap (4) terminals with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Attach the upper grounding strap (4) to the ground bracket on the inlet cowl with the screw (1) and two washers (2).
1 TORQUE the screw (1) to between 175 and 157.5 lbf.in (1.98 and 1.78 m.daN )
. (c) Attach the upper grounding strap (4) to the screw on the engine case flange with the nut (3).
1 TORQUE the nut (3) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
. (d) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the fan cowl support beam bracket with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(e) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the screw (1) and two washers (2) and do the Para. 4.A.(2).(a), the Para. 4.A.(2).(b) and the Para. 4.A.(2).(d).
(f) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the nut on the engine with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(g) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the nut (3) and do the Para. 4.A.(2).(a), the Para. 4.A.(2).(b) and the Para. 4.A.(2).(d) again.
(3) Install right grounding strap (6).
(a) Clean the ground bracket on the inlet cowl, the screw on the engine case and right grounding strap (6) terminals with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Attach the right grounding strap (6) to the ground bracket on the inlet cowl with the screw (7) and two washers (8).
1 TORQUE the screw (7) to between 175 and 157.5 lbf.in (1.98 and 1.78 m.daN )
. (c) Attach the right grounding strap (6) to the screw on the engine case flange with the nut (5).
1 TORQUE the nut (5) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
. (d) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the nut on the engine case with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(e) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the screw (7), two washers (8) and nut (5) and do the Para. 4.A.(3).(a) thru the Para. 4.A.(3).(d) again.
(4) Install the lower left grounding strap (9).
(a) Clean the ground bracket on the inlet cowl, the screw on the engine case and the lower left grounding strap (9) terminals with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Attach the lower left grounding strap (9) to the ground bracket on the inlet cowl with the screw (12) and two washers (11).
1 TORQUE the screw (12) to between 175 and 157.5 lbf.in (1.98 and 1.78 m.daN )
. (c) Attach the lower left grounding strap (9) to the bolt on the engine case flange with the nut (10).
1 TORQUE the nut (10) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
. (d) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the nut on the engine case with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(e) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the screw (12), two washers (11) and nut (10) and do the Para. 4.A.(4).(a) thru the Para. 4.A.(4).(d) again.
(5) Install the lower left grounding strap (13).
(a) Clean the ground bracket on the inlet cowl, the screw on the engine case and the lower left grounding strap (13) terminals with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Attach the lower grounding strap (13) to the ground bracket on the inlet cowl with the screw (16) and two washers (15).
1 TORQUE the screw (16) to between 175 and 157.5 lbf.in (1.98 and 1.78 m.daN )
. (c) Attach the lower grounding strap (13) to the bolt on the engine case flange with the nut (14).
1 TORQUE the nut (14) to to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
. (d) Measure the resistance between the ground bracket and the nut on the engine case with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE. Make sure the resistance is 0.0025 ohms or less.
(e) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohms, remove the screw (16), two washers (15) and nut (14) and do the Para. 4.A.(5).(a) thru 4.A.(5)(d) again.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
