Installation of the Forward Engine Mount
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

Subtask 71-21-12-410-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Attach the forward mount sling and mounting plate
(1) Attach the IAE1N20014 SLING, FWD MOUNT (16) to a hoist and position over the forward engine mount (1).
(2) Remove the four nuts and two washers from the mounting plate.
(3) Position the sling mounting plate on the forward engine mount (1) and insert the four bolts through the side holes. Make sure the plate is aligned properly.
(4) Place two washers and two nuts on the rear bolts and nuts only on the front bolts. Tighten the nuts.
(5) Raise the hoist to straighten the sling.
4. Procedure(1) Attach the IAE1N20014 SLING, FWD MOUNT (16) to a hoist and position over the forward engine mount (1).
(2) Remove the four nuts and two washers from the mounting plate.
(3) Position the sling mounting plate on the forward engine mount (1) and insert the four bolts through the side holes. Make sure the plate is aligned properly.
(4) Place two washers and two nuts on the rear bolts and nuts only on the front bolts. Tighten the nuts.
(5) Raise the hoist to straighten the sling.
Subtask 71-21-12-410-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the forward engine mount
(1) Put the forward engine mount (1) in position on the engine.
(2) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (15) withV10-077 lubricant (engine oil) .
(3) Attach the forward engine mount (1) to the engine mount tube with bolts (15) and washers (14).
(a) Make sure that you install the monoball stop flange on top.
(b) Make sure that you follow the installation hole pattern.
(4) TORQUE the bolts (15) to between 46 and 42 lbf.ft (6.24 and 5.69 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(5) Installation of the safety cable.
Alternate: Use lockwire (Material No.V02-156) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014), safety cable kit (Material No.V02-272) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-273) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-274) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-276) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-277) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-278) ,
safety cable kit (Material No.V02-279) , safety cable ferrule (Material No.V02-280) or safety cable ferrule (Material No.V02-281) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-016).
(6) Locate the link assemblies (4) on the engine brackets.
(7) Apply anti-seize compound (Material No.V10-078) to the pins (12).
(8) Install the pins (12) in the link assemblies (4).
(9) Install the retainers (11) and (13) through the ends of the pins (12).
(10) Install the bolts (2) and (10), washers (3), (6), (7) and (9) and nuts (5) and (8) that attach the retainers (11) and (13) to the engine bracket.
(11) TORQUE the nuts (5) and (8) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(a) Apply torque stripe to the nuts (5) and (8).
5. Close-up(1) Put the forward engine mount (1) in position on the engine.

WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Install safety cable kit (Material No.V02-275) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-016) on bolts (15). Alternate: Use lockwire (Material No.V02-156) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014), safety cable kit (Material No.V02-272) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-273) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-274) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-276) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-277) , safety cable kit (Material No.V02-278) ,
safety cable kit (Material No.V02-279) , safety cable ferrule (Material No.V02-280) or safety cable ferrule (Material No.V02-281) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-016).
(6) Locate the link assemblies (4) on the engine brackets.
(7) Apply anti-seize compound (Material No.V10-078) to the pins (12).
(8) Install the pins (12) in the link assemblies (4).
(9) Install the retainers (11) and (13) through the ends of the pins (12).
(10) Install the bolts (2) and (10), washers (3), (6), (7) and (9) and nuts (5) and (8) that attach the retainers (11) and (13) to the engine bracket.
(11) TORQUE the nuts (5) and (8) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (a) Apply torque stripe to the nuts (5) and (8).
