Removal of the Hold Open Rod Brackets

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-13-86-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Hold Open Rod Brackets
   (1) Remove the LH Hold Open Rod (HOR) bracket assemblies.
   (2) Remove the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (2) from the A-flange of the engine fan case.
     (a) Disconnect the forward HOR from the bracket assembly (2) on the A-flange of the engine fan case (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-08-000-801).
NOTE: Do not let the hold open rod hang loose. Damage to equipment can occur.
     (b) Remove the three nuts (4), three washers (3) and three bolts (1) from holes 91, 92 and 93 that attach the bracket assembly (2) to the A-flange of the engine fan case.
     (c) Remove the bracket assembly (2) from the A-flange of the engine fan case.
   (3) Remove the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (7) from the B-flange of the engine fan case.
     (a) Make sure that the fan cowl aft HOR is in the stowed position.
NOTE: Do not let the hold open rod hang loose. Damage to equipment can occur.
     (b) Remove the nuts (8) and (9), two washers (10) and bolts (5) and (6) from holes 106 and 107 that attach the bracket assembly (7) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
     (c) Remove the bracket assembly (7) from the B-flange of the engine fan case.
   (4) Remove the thrust reverser HOR bracket assembly (13) from the B-flange of the engine fan case.
     (a) Make sure that the thrust reverser HOR is in the stowed position.
     (b) Remove the nuts (14) and (15), two washers (16) and bolts (11) and (12) from holes 97 and 98 that attach the bracket assembly (13) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
     (c) Remove the bracket assembly (13) from the B-flange of the engine fan case.
   (5) Remove the RH hold open rod (HOR) bracket assemblies.
   (6) Remove the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (27) from the A-flange of the engine fan case.
     (a) Disconnect the forward HOR from the bracket assembly (27) on the A-flange of the engine fan case (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-08-000-801).
NOTE: Do not let the hold open rod hang loose. Damage to equipment can occur.
     (b) Remove the three nuts (25), three washers (26) and three bolts (28) from holes 31, 32 and 33 that attach the bracket assembly (27) to the A-flange of the engine fan case.
     (c) Remove the bracket assembly (27) from the A-flange of the engine fan case.
   (7) Remove the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (31) from the B-flange of the engine fan case.
     (a) Make sure the fan cowl aft HOR is in the stowed position.
NOTE: Do not let the hold open rod hang loose. Damage to equipment can occur.
     (b) Remove the two nuts (29), four washers (30) and two bolts (32) from holes 29 and 30 that attach the bracket assembly (31) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
     (c) Remove the bracket assembly (31) from the B-flange of the engine fan case.
   (8) Remove the thrust reverser HOR bracket assembly (33) from the B-flange of the engine fan case.
     (a) Make sure that the thrust reverser HOR is in the stowed position.
     (b) Remove the two nuts (29), four washers (30) and two bolts (32) from holes 37 and 38 that attach the bracket assembly (33) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
     (c) Remove the bracket assembly (33) from the B-flange of the engine fan case.
