WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
1. Reason for the JobNOTE: SBN71-0331 (equivalent to Airbus service bulletin SB 71-1069) introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (latch No. 1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly are stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

A. Cleaning of the Parts Related to the Deflection Plate Installation
(1) Use a clean lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) made moist with Cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-531) to remove all oil, grease, dirt and jointing compound from the nut (1), washers (2), (7), (8), (9), bolt (3), bumper (4), deflection plate (5), keeper housing (6) and spigot (10).
(2) Use a clean lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) to the parts given in Step (1).
Subtask 71-13-13-420-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Use a clean lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) made moist with Cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-531) to remove all oil, grease, dirt and jointing compound from the nut (1), washers (2), (7), (8), (9), bolt (3), bumper (4), deflection plate (5), keeper housing (6) and spigot (10).
(2) Use a clean lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) to the parts given in Step (1).
B. Installation of the Deflection Plate on the Keeper No. 1 housing.
(2) Install the deflection plate (5) on the keeper housing (6) in the correct position as shown for installation with the bolt (3), bumper (4), washers (2) and (9) and nut (1).
(3) Install the deflection plate (5) on the keeper housing (6) with the spigot (10), washers (7) and (8) and nut (1).
(4) Do the adjustment of fan cowl spigots and bumpers (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-011).
(5) TORQUE the nuts (1) to between 231 and 189 lbf.in (2.61 and 2.14 m.daN )

(6) Remove any unwanted jointing compound (Material No.V04-005) from the deflection plate (5), keeper housing (6) and adjacent area.
5. Close-upNOTE: The deflection plate is only installed on the forward keeper housing, keeper No. 1.
(1) Apply the jointing compound (Material No.V04-005) to the mating surfaces of the deflection plate (5) and assemble while wet. (2) Install the deflection plate (5) on the keeper housing (6) in the correct position as shown for installation with the bolt (3), bumper (4), washers (2) and (9) and nut (1).
(3) Install the deflection plate (5) on the keeper housing (6) with the spigot (10), washers (7) and (8) and nut (1).
(4) Do the adjustment of fan cowl spigots and bumpers (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-011).
(5) TORQUE the nuts (1) to between 231 and 189 lbf.in (2.61 and 2.14 m.daN )
. (6) Remove any unwanted jointing compound (Material No.V04-005) from the deflection plate (5), keeper housing (6) and adjacent area.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):

(3) Make a check of the fan cowl latch tension (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-010).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):

(3) Make a check of the fan cowl latch tension (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-010).
