Removal of the Fan Cowl Door Latches and Keepers
1. Reason for the Job
NOTE: SB RA32071-163 (equivalent to Airbus service bulletin SB 71-1068) introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (Latch No.1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly are stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

A. Removal of the Fan Cowl Door latches and Keeper Assemblies
PRE SB RA32071-117
(1) Remove the bolt (20), the bushings (25), the washer (30), the nut (35), the cotter pin (40) and the latch (45). Discard the cotter pin (40).
(2) Remove the clevis (50) from the housing (55).
(3) Remove the bolts (60), the washers (65), the nuts (70) and the housing (55).

(1) Remove the bolt (20), the bushings (25), the washer (30), the nut (35), the cotter pin (40) and the latch (45). Discard the cotter pin (40).
(2) Remove the clevis (50) from the housing (55).
CAUTION:
DO NOT TURN THE CLEVIS OF THE ADJUSTA-KEEPER. IF YOU TURN THE CLEVIS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GUIDE OF THE HOUSING. IF THE GUIDE IS BROKEN, THE CLEVIS CAN TURN AND IT CANNOT ENGAGE CORRECTLY WITH THE LATCH AND KEEP THE LATCH FROM CLOSING CORRECTLY. IF THE LATCHES ARE NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY, THE FAN COWLS CAN OPEN IN FLIGHT.
(a) Turn the nut (75) of the adjusta-keeper until you can remove the clevis (50) from the housing (55). Do not turn the clevis (50). (3) Remove the bolts (60), the washers (65), the nuts (70) and the housing (55).

POST SB RA32071-117
(1) Remove the bolt (20), the bushings (25), the washer (30), the nut (35), the cotter pin (40) and the latch (45). Discard the cotter pin (40).
(2) Remove the clevis (50) from the housing (55).
(3) Remove the bolts (60), the washers (65), the nuts (70), the housing (55) and the restrainer (80).

(1) Remove the bolt (20), the bushings (25), the washer (30), the nut (35), the cotter pin (40) and the latch (45). Discard the cotter pin (40).
(2) Remove the clevis (50) from the housing (55).

DO NOT TURN THE CLEVIS OF THE ADJUSTA-KEEPER. IF YOU TURN THE CLEVIS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GUIDE OF THE HOUSING AND THE RESTRAINER. IF THE GUIDE IS BROKEN, THE CLEVIS CAN TURN AND IT CAN NOT ENGAGE CORRECTLY WITH THE LATCH AND KEEP THE LATCH FROM CLOSING CORRECTLY. IF THE LATCHES ARE NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY, THE FAN COWLS CAN OPEN IN FLIGHT.
(a) Turn the nut (75) of the adjusta-keeper until you can remove the clevis (50) from the housing (55). Do not turn the clevis (50). (3) Remove the bolts (60), the washers (65), the nuts (70), the housing (55) and the restrainer (80).

C. Removal of Fan Cowl Door Keyed Latch (position 1 (FWD) only) and Keeper Assembly
PRE SB RA32071-117
(1) Remove the cotter pin (40), nut (35), washer (30), bushings (25) and bolt (20) that attaches the keyed latch (90).
(b) Discard the cotter pin (40).
(2) Removal of the clevis
(b) Turn the nut (75) of the adjustable keeper housing (85) until you can remove the clevis (95) from the adjustable-keeper housing (85). Do not turn the clevis (95).
(3) Remove the nuts (70), washers (65) and nuts (60) from that attach the adjustable-keeper housing to the bracket.
(4) Remove the adjustable-keepper housing (85).

(1) Remove the cotter pin (40), nut (35), washer (30), bushings (25) and bolt (20) that attaches the keyed latch (90).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(a) Remove the keyed latch (90). (b) Discard the cotter pin (40).
(2) Removal of the clevis
CAUTION:
DO NOT TURN THE CLEVISES. IF YOU TURN THE CLEVISES, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSING GUIDE. IF THE GUIDE IS DAMAGED, THE CLEVIS CAN TURN. IF THE CLEVIS CAN TURN, THE CLEVIS CAN NOT ENGAGE CORRECTLY WITH THE LATCH AND CAN KEEP THE LATCH FROM CLOSING CORRECTLY. IF THE LATCHES ARE NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY, THE FAN COWLS CAN OPEN IN FLIGHT.
(a) Remove the clevis (95) from the adjustable-keeper housing (85) (b) Turn the nut (75) of the adjustable keeper housing (85) until you can remove the clevis (95) from the adjustable-keeper housing (85). Do not turn the clevis (95).
(3) Remove the nuts (70), washers (65) and nuts (60) from that attach the adjustable-keeper housing to the bracket.
(4) Remove the adjustable-keepper housing (85).

D. Removal of the Fan Cowl Door Keyed Latch (position 1 (FWD) only) and Keeper Assembly
POST SB RA32071-117
(1) Remove the cotter pin (40), nut (35), washer (30), bushings (25) and bolt (20) that attaches the keyed latch (90).
(b) Discard the cotter pin (40).
(2) Removal of the clevis
(b) Turn the nut (75) of the adjustable keeper housing (85) until you can remove the clevis (95) from the adjustable-keeper housing (85). Do not turn the clevis (95).
(3) Remove the nuts (70), washers (65) and nuts (60) from that attach the retainer (80) and the adjustable-keeper housing (85) to the bracket.
(4) Remove the retainer (80) and adjustable-keepper housing (85).

(3) Remove the nuts (70), washers (65) and nuts (60) from that attach the retainer (80) and the adjustable-keeper housing (85) to the bracket.
(4) Remove the retainer (80) and adjustable-keepper housing (85).
