A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 71-13-12-420-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the Oil Tank Access Door
   (1) Removal of the protection covers
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Loosen the latch jam nuts on the two latches on the oil tank access door (1).
   (3) Loosen the latch screws on the two latches on the oil tank access door (1) by one turn.
   (4) Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the shoulders of the bolts (5).
NOTE: Do not get the anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) on the threads of the bolts (5) or the nuts (2).
   (5) Install the oil tank access door (1) on the left fan cowl door. Use the two bolts (5), the two washers (3), the two washers (4) and the two nuts (2).
   (6) TORQUE the two nuts (2) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN ) T.
   (7) Engage the latches to close the oil tank access door (1).
   (8) Turn the latch screws on the two latches until the screws touch the striker plate. Use WRENCH - HEXAGONAL 3/32".
   (9) Open the latches and measure the force required to close each latch.
     (a) Put a DYNAMOMETER 44.5 DAN ( 100 LBF) - PUSH PULL adjacent to the screwdriver slot on the latch actuator and measure the force necessary to close each latch. Make sure the force necessary to close the latch is between 15 lbf (6.67 daN) and 18 lbf (8.01 daN).
     (b) If the force is not between 15 lbf (6.67 daN) and 18 lbf (8.01 daN), adjust the latch screw until the force is in the correct range.
   (10) TORQUE the latch jam nuts to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
T on the two latches on the oil tank access door (1).
   (11) Installation of the lockwire
WARNING: USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Install the 24 gauge lockwire (Material No.
PU1-0038) on the latch bolt, latch jam nut and latch screw.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
