A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
NOTE: There is one aft Hold Open Rod (HOR) on each fan cowl door. This procedure is for the removal of the aft HOR from the left fan cowl door. The procedure for the removal of the aft HOR from the right fan cowl door is the same.
Subtask 71-13-09-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Fan Cowl Aft Hold Open Rod (HOR)
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FAN COWL DOOR IS SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED DURING REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION. THE FAN COWL DOOR WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 100 LBS (45.5 KG). IF IT IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Removal of the protection covers.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Clean the four bolts (4), the four washers (3) and the four nuts (2) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean, dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
   (3) Mix the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803), PU4-0004Acuring solution, epoxy primer and thinner (Material No.PU4-0005) or thinner (Material No.PU4-0008) together. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
   (4) Install the aft HOR (1) on the plate on the fan cowl door. Use the four bolts (4), the four washers (3) and the four nuts (2). Wet install the bolts (4) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
   (5) TORQUE the four nuts (2) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Move the quick disconnect plunger and attach the aft HOR (1) to the engine case bracket.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
