Examine the Engine Mount Bolts

This task gives the procedure for the inspection of the engine mount bolts with the engine removed from the aircraft.

3. Job Set-up

A. Clean the engine mount bolts
(1) Clean the engine mount bolts by (Ref. AMM TASK 70-11-50-100-802).
(2) If the engine mount bolts are unusually dirty or greasy, clean them with a brush (Material No.V02-175) made moist with a solvent from (Ref. AMM TASK 70-11-50-100-802).
(3) Clean the threads of the bolts with cotton wool swab (Material No.V02-174) made moist with a solvent from (Ref. AMM TASK 70-11-50-100-802).

4. Procedure
Subtask 71-00-20-230-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Do a local high or ultra-high sensitivity fluorescent penetrant inspection of the engine mount bolts (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-05-230-010).
(1) If an engine mount bolt is cracked, reject it.
