  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE below the applicable wing trailing edge at spoilers 2, 3, 4 and 5, zones 570(670) and 580(680).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Extend the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the spoiler actuator.
   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable wing trailing edge at spoiler 1, zone 573(673).

  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Make a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) . Use it to clean the actuator and the hinge-fittings on the spoilers 2 thru 5.

B. Inspection
   (1) Examine the actuator and the hinge-fittings on the spoilers 2 thru 5 to make sure that:
  • there is no damage
  • there is no corrosion
  • there are no scratches and/or scores
  • the surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the ASRM SRM 575100 for the correct repair procedure.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER from the spoiler actuator.
   (3) Retract the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (4) On the servo-control, make sure that the pointer on the hex-head is opposite the letter O (Operation) on the housing.

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
