D. Install Locking Devices
(1) Put the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING in the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.
(2) Install the 98D27309001000 NEUTRAL SETTING TOOL - ELEVATOR on the elevator:
(a) Remove the cover from the THS hoisting point at RIB11.
(b) Release the wing nut (6).
(c) Push the plate assembly (5) on the THS trailing edge. Make sure that the center plate (7) and the forward plate (8) rest on the THS surface.
(d) Remove the T-handle screw (1) and the washer (2) from the stowage on the center plate (7).
(e) Install the T-handle screw (1) and the washer (2) through the center plate (7) and the THS hoisting point.
(f) Make sure that:
Subtask 55-20-00-941-051-A (1) Put the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING in the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.
(2) Install the 98D27309001000 NEUTRAL SETTING TOOL - ELEVATOR on the elevator:
(a) Remove the cover from the THS hoisting point at RIB11.
(b) Release the wing nut (6).
(c) Push the plate assembly (5) on the THS trailing edge. Make sure that the center plate (7) and the forward plate (8) rest on the THS surface.
(d) Remove the T-handle screw (1) and the washer (2) from the stowage on the center plate (7).
(e) Install the T-handle screw (1) and the washer (2) through the center plate (7) and the THS hoisting point.
(f) Make sure that:
- The forward plate (8) is on the line of the rivets that attach the THS leading edge to the THS front spar.
- The bars (3) follow the line of the RIB11.
- The THS trailing edge is correctly positioned between the two parts of the plate assembly (5).
E. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 334 for the left hand elevator and/or zone 344 for the right hand elevator.
Subtask 55-20-00-010-051-A (1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 334 for the left hand elevator and/or zone 344 for the right hand elevator.

(1) Remove or open the trailing edge access panels as necessary for the inspection (Ref. AMM TASK 55-13-11-000-001).
(2) Remove the cover from the lightening holes on the front spar.

as visible, thru the lightening holes, for:

Subtask 55-20-00-210-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make a detailed inspection of the elevator panels internal structure, as far
as visible, thru the lightening holes, for:
- deterioration of the structure,
- rib shear ties debonding,
- skin delamination,
- spar flanges debonding,
- joint part at TE rib 1 disengaged.
NOTE: Corrosion in the joint part at TE rib 1 is permitted.
(2) If damage is found, look for allowable damage limits SRM 552100. (3) If joint part at TE rib 1 is found disengaged, contact Airbus.

(1) Make a detailed inspection of the elevator panels internal structure, as far as visible, thru the lightening holes, for:

- rib shear ties debonding,
- skin delamination,
- spar flanges debonding.

A. Visual Inspection
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Close Access
(1) Cut and install hole covers, Film-- Polyvinyl Fluoride - (Material No.14HAA1) , to the lightening holes on the elevator front spar.
(a) Cut a piece of tedlar Film-- Polyvinyl Fluoride - (Material No.14HAA1) with 20 mm (0.7874 in.) of excess of the hole dimension, to make the hole cover.
(b) Abrade the paint of the front spar with scotch brite type A on the area where the hole cover will be bonded.
(c) Clean the area using Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) .
(d) Bond the hole cover using Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) .
(2) Close or install the trailing-edge access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 55-13-11-400-001).
Subtask 55-20-00-942-051-A (1) Cut and install hole covers, Film-- Polyvinyl Fluoride - (Material No.14HAA1) , to the lightening holes on the elevator front spar.

(1) Remove the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING from the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.

(a) Release the wing nut (6).
(b) Remove the T-handle screw (1) and the washer (2).
(c) Remove the set of bars (3) and plates (7) and (8).

(e) Tighten the wing nut (6).
(f) Install the cover on the hoisting point at RIB11.

Elevators - Installation of the Tool-Elevator Neutral Setting
