3. Job Set-up
Subtask 54-57-17-860-058-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is set to the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch is in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, at zone 415
     (b) For the right pylon, at zone 425.
   (4) Make sure that the applicable thrust-reverser cowl door is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-57-17-420-065-A
A. Installation of the Bearing in the Thrust-Reverser Cowl Hinge-Fitting at RIB3
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Make sure that the new AIPC 54-57-87-31-015 BEARING (9) is clean and in the correct condition.
NOTE: The bearing (9) of the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2) has one outer ring (1), one tabwasher (3) and one slotted nut (4).
The outer ring (1) has an inner bush.
   (5) To install the bearing (9) on the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2), you must use the
98D54003022000 RI BALL BEARING.
NOTE: The 98D54003022000 RI BALL BEARING has two sockets (5) and (6) and one screw puller (7).
   (6) Put the new outer ring (1) on the screw puller (7).
     (a) Make sure that the outer ring (1) touches the shim (8).
   (7) Install the screw puller (7) together with the outer ring (1) on the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2).
   (8) Tighten the screw puller (7) to install the outer ring (1) in the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2).
   (9) Make sure that the outer ring (1) is correctly installed in the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2).
   (10) Remove the screw puller (7).
   (11) Install the new tabwasher (3) and the new slotted nut (4) on the outer ring (1).
   (12) Put the socket (5) on the outer ring (1) and hold them in position.
   (13) Put and hold the socket (6) on the slotted nut (4).
   (14) TORQUE the slotted nut (4) to between 55 and 45 m.N (40.56 and 33.19 lbf.ft ) T.
   (15) Remove the sockets (5) and (6).
   (16) Bend the tabwasher (3) on the slotted nut (4).

   (1) Install the removed thrust-reverser cowl door (
Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
- 451AL or 452AR.
     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
- 461AL or 462AR.

B. Reactivation of the Thrust Reverser
   (1) Make the applicable thrust reverser serviceable after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-807).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
