A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch is in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.

(1) Make the applicable thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, at zone 415
(b) For the right pylon, at zone 425.
(2) Remove the applicable thrust-reverser cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

451AL or 452AR.

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

461AL or 462AR.

4. Procedure
Subtask 54-57-17-020-065-A

A. Removal of the Bearing from the Thrust-Reverser Cowl Hinge-Fitting at RIB3

NOTE: The bearing (9) of the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2) has one outer ring (1), one tabwasher (3) and one slotted nut (4).
The outer ring (1) has an inner bush.

(1) To remove the bearing (9) from the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2), you must use the 98D54003022000 RI BALL BEARING.

NOTE: The 98D54003022000 RI BALL BEARING has two sockets (5) and (6) and one screw puller (7).

(2) Release the tabwasher (3) from the slotted nut (4).
(3) Put the socket (5) on the outer ring (1) and hold them in position.
(4) Put and hold the socket (6) on the slotted nut (4).
(5) Remove and discard the slotted nut (4).
(6) Remove and discard the tabwasher (3).
(7) Remove the sockets (5) and (6).
(8) Install the screw puller (7) on the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2).
(9) Tighten the screw puller (7) until the shim (8) touches the outer ring (1).
(10) Tighten the screw puller (7) again to remove the outer ring (1) from the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2).
(11) Remove the outer ring (1) from the screw puller (7).
(12) Discard the outer ring (1).
(13) Remove the screw puller (7) from the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2).
