A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
   (2) Remove the Rear Pylon Fairing (RPF) (Ref. AMM TASK 54-54-00-000-804).
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-54-11-300-052-A
A. Replacement of the Fire Seals of the Rear Pylon Fairing (RPF)
   (1) Put the RPF (2) and the gutter (4) on a MAT - PROTECTIVE.
   (2) Remove and discard the used seal (1) from the RPF (2).
   (3) Remove and discard the used seal (3) from the gutter (4).
   (4) Install a new seal (1) on the RPF (2).
   (5) Install a new seal (3) on the gutter (4).
   (6) Make sure that the seals (1) and (3) are correctly assembled in their grooves and that they have the correct orientation. To do this:
     (a) Make sure that the seal markings are on the internal sides of the RPF (2) and the gutter (4).
     (b) Make sure that the seal stops touch the seal retainer lips.
     (c) Make sure that the cut on the internal lip of each seal is on the rear side of the RPF (2). This is to make sure that:
  • The left and right seals are in the correct position.
  • The left and right seals do not touch the wing system interface.

B. Reactivation of the Thrust Reverser
   (1) Make the thrust reverser serviceable after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-807).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
