Removal of the Straps

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 54-52-82-040-050-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-52-82-010-050-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 410
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 420.
(2) Remove the access skin panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-52-11-000-807):
(a) For the left pylon: 411AL 413AL 413BL
(b) For the right pylon: 421AL 423AL 423BL.
(3) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 413CL
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL.
Subtask 54-52-82-160-050-A (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 410
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 420.
(2) Remove the access skin panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-52-11-000-807):
(a) For the left pylon: 411AL 413AL 413BL
(b) For the right pylon: 421AL 423AL 423BL.
(3) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 413CL
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL.
D. Removal of the Sealant
(1) Use a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant between:
(a) The strap (6) and the forward fairing structure
(b) The strap (12) and the forward fairing structure
(c) The strap (13) and the forward fairing structure.
4. Procedure(1) Use a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant between:
(a) The strap (6) and the forward fairing structure
(b) The strap (12) and the forward fairing structure
(c) The strap (13) and the forward fairing structure.

A. Removal of the Straps
(1) Hold the strap (3) that is installed on the forward fairing structure at RIB02.
(2) Remove the nuts (2).
(4) Remove the strap (3) from the forward fairing structure at RIB02.
(5) Hold the strap (6) that is installed on the forward fairing structure at RIB04.
(6) Remove the screws (5).
(7) Remove the strap (6) from the forward fairing structure at RIB04.
(8) Hold the strap (12) that is installed on the forward fairing structure adjacent to RIB06.
(9) Remove the nuts (7).
(11) Remove the bolts (10) and the washers (11).
(12) Remove the strap (12) from the forward fairing structure adjacent to RIB06.
(13) Hold the strap (13) that is installed on the forward fairing structure adjacent to RIB06.
(14) Remove the nuts (20).
(16) Remove the bolts (15) and the washers (14).
(17) Remove the bolts (18) and the washers (19).
(18) Remove the strap (13) from the forward fairing structure adjacent to RIB06.
(1) Hold the strap (3) that is installed on the forward fairing structure at RIB02.
(2) Remove the nuts (2).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
(3) Remove the screws (1) and the bolts (4). (4) Remove the strap (3) from the forward fairing structure at RIB02.
(5) Hold the strap (6) that is installed on the forward fairing structure at RIB04.
(6) Remove the screws (5).
(7) Remove the strap (6) from the forward fairing structure at RIB04.
(8) Hold the strap (12) that is installed on the forward fairing structure adjacent to RIB06.
(9) Remove the nuts (7).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
(10) Remove the bolts (9) and the washers (8). (11) Remove the bolts (10) and the washers (11).
(12) Remove the strap (12) from the forward fairing structure adjacent to RIB06.
(13) Hold the strap (13) that is installed on the forward fairing structure adjacent to RIB06.
(14) Remove the nuts (20).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
(15) Remove the bolt (16) and the washer (17). (16) Remove the bolts (15) and the washers (14).
(17) Remove the bolts (18) and the washers (19).
(18) Remove the strap (13) from the forward fairing structure adjacent to RIB06.
