A. Inspect the Igniter Plug(s).
(2) Examine the igniter plug(s) for internal wear and damage.
(3) Examine the outer casing for spark erosion. If the erosion is greater than 5.537 mm (0.218 in.), replace the igniter(s). Constant erosion on the electrode is permitted.
(4) Examine the ceramic insulator for cracks or damaged area. Replace the igniter plug(s) if the ceramic insulator is damaged.
(5) Examine the igniter plug(s) electrical connection. Replace the igniter plug(s) if the electrical connection pins are bent, burned or loose. Replace the igniter(s) if discoloration of the connector ceramic is detected.
(6) Examine the part of the igniter plug(s) that has the thread for signs of distortion or damaged threads. Replace the igniter plug(s) if the threads are damaged.
(7) Examine the tip for burned or melted metal. Replace the plug(s) if metal is burned or melted.
(8) Maximum wear on the tip is 0.8 mm (0.030 in.).
5. Close-upNOTE: There are two igniter plug(s) installed in this APU.
(1) Visually examine the igniter plug(s) for broken or missing parts. Shake the igniter plug(s) for signs of loose parts. Replace the igniter plug(s), if necessary.
