  • in the cockpit on the Engine Control Panel 115VU to tell persons not to start the engine(s),
  • in the cockpit on the AIR COND Overhead Control Panel 30VU to tell persons not to push in the APU BLEED pushbutton switch,
  • on the HP ground connector to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.

C. Get Access
NOTE: To remove the necessary APU bleed-air ducts, remove only the related access panels.
   (1) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR35 and FR36.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
     (b) Remove the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
   (2) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR36 and FR42.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panel 191JB.
     (b) Remove the access panel 191JB.
   (3) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR42 and FR50.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197BB.
     (b) Remove the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197BB.
   (4) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR46 and FR70 from the AFT cargo compartment.
     (a) Open the AFT cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
     (b) Open the applicable access panels for the APU bleed-air ducts:
  • between the FR46 and FR47
    remove the partition panel 151BW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-001)
  • between the FR47 and FR49
    remove the access panel 151CW
  • between the FR49 and FR52
    remove the access panel 151DW
  • between the FR52 and FR55
    remove the access panel 151EW
  • between the FR55 and FR58
    remove the access panel 151HW
  • between the FR58 and FR59
    remove the access panel 151JW
  • between the FR59 and FR62
    remove the access panel 161AW
  • between the FR62 and FR63
    remove the access panel 161BW
  • between the FR63 and FR65
    remove the access panel 161CW
  • between the FR65 and FR70
    remove the partition panel 161DW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-001).
   (5) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts aft of FR70.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the rear fuselage.
     (b) Open the applicable access doors for the APU bleed-air ducts:
  • between the FR70 and FR77
    open the access door 312AR
  • between the FR77 and FR80
    open the access door 314AR.
  • aft of FR80
    open the access door 315AL and 316AR.

C. Get Access
NOTE: To remove the necessary APU bleed-air ducts, remove only the related access panels.
   (1) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR35 and FR36.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
     (b) Remove the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
   (2) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR36 and FR42.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panel 191JB.
     (b) Remove the access panel 191JB.
   (3) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR42 and FR50.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197KB.
     (b) Remove the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197KB.
   (4) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR46 and FR70 from the AFT cargo compartment.
     (a) Open the AFT cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
     (b) Open the applicable access panels for the APU bleed-air ducts:
  • between the FR46 and FR47
    remove the partition panel 151BW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-001)
  • between the FR47 and FR47.4
    remove the access panel 151RW
  • between the FR47.4 and FR49
    remove the access panel 151CW
  • between the FR49 and FR52
    remove the access panel 151DW
  • between the FR52 and FR55
    remove the access panel 151EW
  • between the FR55 and FR58
    remove the access panel 151HW
  • between the FR58 and FR59
    remove the access panel 151JW
  • between the FR59 and FR62
    remove the access panel 161AW
  • between the FR62 and FR63

   (5) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts aft of FR70.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the rear fuselage.
     (b) Open the applicable access doors for the APU bleed-air ducts:
  • between the FR70 and FR77
    open the access door 312AR
  • between the FR77 and FR80
    open the access door 314AR.
  • aft of FR80
    open the access door 315AL and 316AR.

C. Get Access
   (1) If Additional Center Tanks are installed, do the steps that follow:
NOTE: To remove the necessary APU bleed-air ducts, remove only the related access panels.
     (a) If the Additional Center Tank No1 (ACT1) is installed, remove the ACT1 to get access to the APU bleed-air ducts (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-00).
     (b) If the Additional Center Tank No2 (ACT2) is installed, remove the ACT2 to get access to the APU bleed-air ducts (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-00).
     (c) If the Additional Center Tank No3 (ACT3) is installed, remove the ACT3 to get access to the APU bleed-air ducts (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-00).
     (d) If the Additional Center Tank No4 (ACT4) is installed, remove the ACT4 to get access to the APU bleed-air ducts (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-00).
     (e) If the Additional Center Tank No5 (ACT5) is installed, remove the ACT5 to get access to the APU bleed-air ducts (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-00).
     (f) If the Additional Center Tank No6 (ACT6) is installed, remove the ACT6 to get access to the APU bleed-air ducts (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-00).
   (2) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR35 and FR36.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
     (b) Remove the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
   (3) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR36 and FR42.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panel 191JB.
     (b) Remove the access panel 191JB.
   (4) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR42 and FR50.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197BB.
     (b) Remove the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197BB.
   (5) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts between FR46 and FR70 from the AFT cargo compartment.
     (a) Open the AFT cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
     (b) Open the applicable access panels for the APU bleed-air ducts:
  • between the FR46 and FR53
    remove the partition panel 151BW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-001) and remove the access panel 151SW
  • between the FR53 and FR56
    remove the access panel 151TW
  • between the FR56 and FR58
    remove the access panel 151UW
  • between the FR58 and FR59
    remove the access panel 151VW
  • between the FR59 and FR62
    remove the access panel 161AW
  • between the FR62 and FR63
    remove the access panel 161BW
  • between the FR63 and FR65
    remove the access panel 161CW
  • between the FR65 and FR70
    remove the partition panel 161DW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-001).
   (6) Get access to the APU bleed-air ducts aft of FR70.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the rear fuselage.
     (b) Open the applicable access doors for the APU bleed-air ducts:
  • between the FR70 and FR77
    open the access door 312AR
  • between the FR77 and FR80
    open the access door 314AR.
  • aft of FR80
    open the access door 315AL and 316AR.
4. Procedure
Subtask 36-12-41-020-053-A
A. Removal of the Bleed Air Ducts between FR35 and FR49:
   (1) Remove the bleed air ducts between FR35 and FR40:
     (a) Release the velcro strips and remove the insulation muff (19) from the bleed air duct (18).
     (b) Remove the nut (4), the washer (5) and the bolt (7).
     (c) Disconnect the bonding strap (6) from the bleed air duct (8).
     (d) Remove the nuts (1), the washers (2) and the bolts (3).
     (e) Disconnect the connecting rods (9) from the bleed air duct (10).
     (f) Remove the nuts (13), the washers (14) and the bolts (17).
     (g) Disconnect the spring rods (15) and (16) from the bleed air duct (12).
     (h) Remove the clamps (11).
     (i) Remove the bleed air ducts (8), (12) and (18).
     (j) Install the CAP - BLANKING on the bleed-air duct flange (10).
   (2) Remove the bleed air ducts between FR40 and FR45:
     (a) Remove the clamps (11).
     (b) Remove the bleed air duct (25).
     (c) Remove the nuts (24), the washers (23) and the bolts (22).
     (d) Remove the bleed air duct (21) and the seal (20).
   (3) Remove the bleed air ducts between FR45 and FR47:
     (a) Remove the nut (36), the washer (35) and the bolt (38).
     (b) Disconnect the bonding straps (37) from the bleed air duct (40).
     (c) Remove the nuts (32), the washers (33) and the bolts (34).
     (d) Disconnect the connecting rods (39) from the bleed air duct (40).
     (e) Remove the clamp (11).
     (f) Remove the bleed air duct (30) and the seal (31).
     (g) Remove the bolts (29) and the washers (28).
     (h) Remove the bleed air duct (26) and the seal (27).
   (4) Remove the bleed air duct between FR47 and FR49:
     (a) Remove the clamp (11).
     (b) Remove the bleed air duct (40).
     (c) Install the CAP - BLANKING on the bleed air duct in the fuselage.

B. Removal of the Bleed Air Duct between FR49 and FR80:
   (1) Remove the related APU overheat sensing elements (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-22-17-000-001).
   (2) Remove the nuts (8), the washers (7) and the bolts (5).
   (3) Move the connecting rods (14) away from the duct (13).
   (4) Remove the clamp (20).
   (5) Remove the nuts (9), the washers (10) and the bolts (12).
   (6) Disconnect the spring rods (11).
   (7) Remove the nut (4), the washer (3) and the bolt (1) and disconnect the bonding straps (2).
   (8) Remove the duct (13).
   (9) Remove and discard the seal (16).
   (10) Put blanking caps on the bleed-air duct flanges (15) and (19).
Subtask 36-12-41-020-054-B
C. Removal of the Bleed Air Duct between FR80 and FR82
   (1) Remove the bleed air ducts between FR80 and FR82 as follows:
     (a) Remove the nuts (62), plates (63), washers (64), bolts (51) and washers (50) from the flange (60).
     (b) Disconnect the bleed air duct (61) from the flange (60).
     (c) Remove the flange (60) from the aircraft structure.
     (d) Remove the plates (58) and (59) from the flange (60).
     (e) Remove and discard the seals (52) from bleed air duct (31).
     (f) Remove the nut (37), the washer (38) and the bolt (40) and then disconnect the bonding strap (39).
     (g) Safety the bonding strap (39) to the bleed air duct (31).
     (h) Remove the nuts (33), the washers (32) and the bolts (36).
     (i) Remove the connecting rods (34) from the bleed air ducts (31) and (35).
     (j) Remove the nut (57), the washers (56) and the bolt (54).
     (k) Disconnect the spring rod (55) from the bleed air duct (31).
     (l) Carefully hold and remove the bleed air duct (31) from the aircraft structure and the bleed air duct (35).
     (m) Remove and discard the seal (53).
     (n) Remove the nut (46), the washer (47) and the bolt (48) and then disconnect the bonding strap (49).
     (o) Safety the bonding strap (49) to the bleed air duct (35).
     (p) Remove the nuts (45), the washers (44) and the bolts (41).
     (q) Remove the connecting rods (43) from the bleed air ducts (35) and (42).
     (r) Carefully hold and remove the bleed air duct (35) from the bleed air duct (31) and the bleed air duct (42).
     (s) Remove and discard the seal (65).
     (t) Loosen the screw of the clamp (66).
     (u) Remove the clamp (66) from the bleed air duct (42) and (67).
     (v) Carefully hold and remove the bleed air duct (42) from the bleed air duct (67).
     (w) Install the CAP - BLANKING on the flanges of the bleed air duct (61) and (67).
     (x) Keep the parts for the subsequent installation procedure.
