Removal of Intermediate Pressure Bleed Check Valve for Detailed Inspection

WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

- With no return spring.

A. Cleaning of the IP Bleed Check-Valve
(1) Clean the IP bleed check-valve with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
(2) Dry the IP bleed check-valve with a lint-free cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 36-11-41-210-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the IP bleed check-valve with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
(2) Dry the IP bleed check-valve with a lint-free cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
B. Inspection of the IP Bleed Check-Valve
(1) Examine the check valve (5) for damage.
(a) Make sure that the flappers (4), their seats (3), the hinge pin (2) and the visualization tab (1) are in the correct condition:
(a) If you find missing parts, replace the IP bleed check-valve (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-41-400-802).
(3) Do a functional test of the IP bleed check-valve (5).
(a) Hold the check-valve (5) with the hinge pin (2) horizontal and the flappers (4) in the closed position.
1 Make sure that the flappers (4) are in the fully closed position.
(b) Turn the check-valve (5) so that the flappers (4) hang open with gravity.
1 Make sure that the flappers (4) are in the fully open position, move freely, and do not stick or bind.
2 If the flappers (4) do not open fully, do not move freely, or stick or bind, replace the check-valve (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-41-400-802).
(c) Turn the check-valve (5) so that the flappers (4) close with gravity.
1 Make sure that the flappers (4) are in the fully closed position, move freely, and do not stick or bind
2 If the flappers (4) do not close fully, do not move freely, or stick or bind, replace the check-valve (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-41-400-802).
5. Close-up(1) Examine the check valve (5) for damage.
(a) Make sure that the flappers (4), their seats (3), the hinge pin (2) and the visualization tab (1) are in the correct condition:
- Make sure that there are no cracks, missing parts, bosses, corrosion or significant wear marks.
- If you find cracks, bosses, dents, corrosion or frictional wear on the valve, replace the IP bleed check-valve (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-41-400-802).
(a) If you find missing parts, replace the IP bleed check-valve (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-41-400-802).
(3) Do a functional test of the IP bleed check-valve (5).
(a) Hold the check-valve (5) with the hinge pin (2) horizontal and the flappers (4) in the closed position.
1 Make sure that the flappers (4) are in the fully closed position.
(b) Turn the check-valve (5) so that the flappers (4) hang open with gravity.
