Removal of the TAT Sensor
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS RELATED TO THE WEATHER RADAR ARE OPENED, SAFETIED AND TAGGED.
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU OPEN PHC CIRCUIT BREAKERS 2DA1(2,3), OPEN PROBE HEATER CIRCUIT-BREAKERS 1DA1(2), 3DA1(2,3), 4DA1(2,3) AND 5DA1(2,3). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS SEQUENCE:
- THE PROBES WILL BECOME TOO HOT.
- THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT AND INJURY TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL.

C. Safety Precautions
(1) In the cockpit, on overhead control and indicating panel 25VU:
(a) Make sure that the PROBE/WINDOW HEAT pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(b) Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) closed:

E. Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position at zone 120.
4. ProcedureSubtask 34-11-18-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Total Air Temperature (TAT) Sensor (11FP1, 11FP2)
(2) Pull the sensor (5) out of its housing (2).
(3) Hold the sensor (5) and disconnect the connector (1).
(4) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors (1) and (4).
(5) Remove the sensor (5).
(6) Remove and discard the seal (3).
Subtask 34-11-18-020-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE TAT SENSORS WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THEM:
(1) Loosen the six screws (6). - DO NOT LET THEM FALL
- DO NOT BEND THEM
- DO NOT CAUSE THEM SCRATCHES.
(2) Pull the sensor (5) out of its housing (2).
(3) Hold the sensor (5) and disconnect the connector (1).
(4) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors (1) and (4).
(5) Remove the sensor (5).
(6) Remove and discard the seal (3).
NOTE: If the seal (3) is in a good condition (no signs of cracks or missing parts):
- Do not discard this seal.
- Keep this seal for a maximum of eight flight cycles.
A. Removal of the Total Air Temperature (TAT) Sensor (11FP1, 11FP2)
(2) Put the blanking plugs on the ends of the disconnected pressure line (8) and the sensor tube (7).
(3) Loosen the six screws (6).
(4) Pull the sensor (5) out of its housing (2).
(5) Hold the sensor (5) and disconnect the connector (1).
(6) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors (1) and (4).
(7) Remove the sensor (5).
(8) Remove and discard the seal (3).
CAUTION:
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE TAT SENSORS WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THEM:
(1) Disconnect the pressure line (8) from the sensor tube (7). - DO NOT LET THEM FALL
- DO NOT BEND THEM
- DO NOT CAUSE THEM SCRATCHES.
(2) Put the blanking plugs on the ends of the disconnected pressure line (8) and the sensor tube (7).
(3) Loosen the six screws (6).
(4) Pull the sensor (5) out of its housing (2).
(5) Hold the sensor (5) and disconnect the connector (1).
(6) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors (1) and (4).
(7) Remove the sensor (5).
(8) Remove and discard the seal (3).
NOTE: If the seal (3) is in a good condition (no signs of cracks or missing parts):
- Do not discard this seal.
- Keep this seal for a maximum of eight flight cycles.
