Replacement of the Lens and the Mirror of the Runway Turnoff Light

WARNING: DO NOT DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES AFTER YOU DE-ENERGIZE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS.
WARNING: WEAR GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE LIGHT. THE LAMP IS PRESSURIZED AND AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE LAMP GLASS WITH YOUR FINGERS. THE OILS FROM YOUR SKIN WILL QUICKLY CAUSE DETERIORATION OF THE LAMP. IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY TOUCH THE LAMP GLASS, CLEAN IT WITH A LINT-FREE CLOTH.
NOTE: This procedure is only applicable for halogen-bulb runway turnoff-lights.

4. Procedure
Subtask 33-43-11-020-057-A
A. Removal of the Lens and the Mirror
   (1) For the TELEFLEX runway turnoff light:
F Lens and Mirror of the TELEFLEX of the Runway Turnoff Light
     (a) Remove the screw (2), the washer (3) and the insulating washer (1).
     (b) Remove the clamp (4).
     (c) Remove the lamp:
CAUTION: HOLD THE LAMP FIRMLY UNTIL IT IS FULLY DISCONNECTED. DO NOT PULL OR TWIST THE WIRES. THE WIRES WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM, OR IF THE LAMP FALLS AND HANGS AT THE END OF THE WIRES.
       1 Pull the lamp away from the support (13).
     (d) Disconnect the two electrical terminals (11):
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE LAMP TOO FAR OUT OF THE LIGHT. THE WIRES CONNECTED TO THE LAMP WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM.
       1 Disconnect the two electrical terminals (11) from the terminal stud.
     (e) Pull the lens (5) away from the mirror (10).
     (f) Remove the screws (6) and washers (7).
     (g) Carefully remove and keep the halogen bulb (9).
     (h) If the gasket (12) on the support (13) is defective, remove and discard it.
   (2) For the HONEYWELL runway turnoff light:
F Lens and Mirror of the HONEYWELL Runway Turnoff Light
     (a) Remove the screw (1) and the retainer (2).
     (b) Remove the lamp:
CAUTION: HOLD THE LAMP FIRMLY UNTIL IT IS FULLY DISCONNECTED. DO NOT PULL OR TWIST THE WIRES. THE WIRES WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM, OR IF THE LAMP FALLS AND HANGS AT THE END OF THE WIRES.
       1 Pull the lamp away from the support (11).
     (c) Disconnect the two electrical terminals (9):
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE LAMP TOO FAR OUT OF THE LIGHT. THE WIRES CONNECTED TO THE LAMP WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM.
       1 Disconnect the two electrical terminals (9) from the terminal stud.
     (d) Pull the lens (3) away from the mirror (8).
     (e) Remove the two screws (4) and the two washers (5).
     (f) Carefully remove and keep the halogen bulb (7).
     (g) If the gasket (10) on the support (11) is defective, remove and discard it.

B. Installation of the Lens and the Mirror
   (1) For the TELEFLEX runway turnoff light
F Lens and Mirror of the TELEFLEX of the Runway Turnoff Light
     (a) Carefully put the halogen bulb (9) in position on a new AIPC 33-43-11-02-020 MIRROR (10).
NOTE: If the halogen bulb is damaged, install an new AIPC 33-43-11-02-050 HALOGEN BULB (9).
NOTE: Make sure that the pinched seal (8) end points forward.
     (b) Install the two washers (7) and the two screws (6).
     (c) Tighten the two screws (6). Tighten the two screws (6) again a quarter turn after contact.
     (d) Connect the two electrical terminals (11):
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE ELECTRICAL WIRES WHEN YOU CONNECT THE TERMINALS TO THE LAMP. IF YOU PULL THE WIRES, YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
       1 Connect the two electrical terminals (11) to the terminal stud.
     (e) Install a new AIPC 33-43-11-01-110 GASKET (12) on the support (13).
     (f) Put a new AIPC 33-43-11-02-010 LENS (5) in position on a new AIPC 33-43-11-02-020 MIRROR (10) with the halogen bulb installed.
     (g) Put the lamp in position on the support (13).
     (h) Put the clamp (4) in position.
NOTE: If the clamp is twisted, install a new AIPC 33-43-11-01-010 CLAMP (4).
     (i) Install the insulating washer (1), the washer (3) and the screw (2).
     (j) Compress the clamp (4) with your hand.
     (k) Put a gage with a thickness of 8 mm (0.31 in.) +/- 0.2 mm (0.01 in.) between the two brackets of the clamp (4).
NOTE: You can use a bulb handling tool-gage to measure the distance between the two brackets of the clamps (4).
     (l) Tighten the screw (2):
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE BULB HANDLING TOOL TO TIGHTEN THE CLAMP SCREW. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO THE COMPONENTS IF THE BULB HANDLING TOOL BREAKS. USE THE CORRECT TOOL TO TIGHTEN THE CLAMP SCREW.
       1 Tighten the screw (2) until the two brackets of the clamp (4) touch the gage, without visual signs of distortion of the clamp (4).
     (m) Remove the gage.
   (2) For the HONEYWELL runway turnoff light:
F Lens and Mirror of the HONEYWELL Runway Turnoff Light
     (a) Carefully put the AIPC 33-43-11-02-050 HALOGEN BULB (7) in position on a new AIPC 33-43-11-02-020 MIRROR (8).
NOTE: If the halogen bulb is damaged, replace it.
NOTE: Make sure that the pinched seal (6) end points forward.
     (b) Install the washers (5) and screws (4).
     (c) Tighten the screws (4). Tighten the screws (4) again a quarter turn after contact.
     (d) Connect the two electrical terminals (9):
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE ELECTRICAL WIRES WHEN YOU CONNECT THE TERMINALS TO THE LAMP. IF YOU PULL THE WIRES, YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
       1 Connect the two electrical terminals (9) to the terminal stud.
     (e) Install a new AIPC 33-43-11-01-030 GASKET (10) on the support (11).
     (f) Put a new AIPC 33-43-11-02-010 LENS (3) in position on a new AIPC 33-43-11-02-020 MIRROR (8) with the halogen bulb installed.
     (g) Put the lamp in position on the support (11).
     (h) Put the AIPC 33-43-11-01-020 RETAINER (2) in position.
NOTE: If the retainer (2) is twisted, replace it.
     (i) Install the screw (1).
     (j) TORQUE the screw (1) to between 7 and 6 lbf.in (0.08 and 0.07 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Make sure that there are no signs of distortion of the retainer (2).
