Lubrication of the Retractable Landing Lights

MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF FUEL CONTAMINATION IN THE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY. IF YOU FIND FUEL CONTAMINATION, NO PERSON MUST OPERATE THE LANDING LIGHT UNTIL:
  • YOU REPAIR THE FUEL LEAK
  • YOU REPLACE THE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IGNITION OF THE REMAINING FUEL IN THE LANDING LIGHT CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure the travel range(s) of the applicable landing light(s) is(are) clear.
   (2) Make sure that the applicable LAND L switch (in the cockpit) is set to the OFF position.
   (3) Make sure that the retractable landing light is in the extended position.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing lights.

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position as applicable:
     (a) FOR [7LB] (LT-LANDING, L)
below zone 571
     (b) FOR [8LB] (LT-LANDING, R)
below zone 671.
4. Procedure
Subtask 33-42-00-640-050-A
A. Lubrication of the Retractable Landing Lights
   (1) Clean the gear sector (1) and the screw (2) with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO GREASE OR CONTAMINATION ON THE MICRO SWITCHES, THE ELECTRICAL ITEMS OR THE SILICON COMPONENTS. YOU MUST REPLACE THE ELECTRICAL ITEMS AND THE SILICON COMPONENTS IF THERE IS CONTAMINATION ON THEM.
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) with a BRUSH - BRISTLED, FIBER, SOFT to the gear sector (1) and the screw (2).
   (3) Do an operational test of the retractable landing lights three times, (Ref. AMM TASK 33-42-00-710-001).
   (4) Do a visual inspection of the gear sector (1) and the screw (2) and apply grease again if necessary.
   (5) Retract the retractable landing lights.

B. Put the Aircraft back to its Initial Configuration
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
