Installation of the Servicing Plate Kit

Installation of the Safety Devices on the Landing Gears
3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-51-42-860-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position:
  • In the cockpit, on panel 400VU, to tell persons no to operate the landing-gear control lever
  • On the steering handwheel (CAPT and F/O) and on the brake pedals, to tell persons no to operate them.
   (3) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-51-42-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Servicing Plate Kit
   (1) Prepare the plate (1) and the steering cylinder (2):
     (a) Clean the back of the plate (1) and the steering cylinder (2) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Naphta based and Alcohol - (Material No.08BBC1) .
       1 Make sure that the surfaces are clean and degreased.
     (b) Dry the plate (1).
     (c) Put the adhesive film on the rear side of the plate (1).
     (d) Make sure that there are no air bubbles or inclusions on the film.
   (2) Bond the plate (1) on the steering cylinder (2):
     (a) Bend the plate (1) to a radius smaller than the one of the steering cylinder (2).
     (b) Put the plate (1) in position on the steering cylinder (2) and apply a moderate pressure with your hand.
     (c) Make sure that the plate (1) fully bonds to the steering cylinder surface.
       1 Make sure that the corners are correctly bonded. If they are not correctly bonded, there is a risk of peeling.
   (3) Protection of the plate:
     (a) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) approximately 5 mm (0.20 in.) wide around the plate with an overlap of 1 mm (0.04 in.) on the plate.
NOTE: Be careful not to apply sealant on the markings.
     (b) Apply Varnish Polyurethane-Low VOC - External Structure (Material No.04SBA3) on the plate (1) with a BRUSH - BRISTLED, SOFT.
     (c) Let cure for two hours and apply a second layer of Varnish Polyurethane-Low VOC - External Structure (Material No.04SBA3) .
     (d) Let cure for four hours in a clean area at ambient temperature.
5. Close-up
Subtask 32-51-42-860-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
