WARNING: LET THE BRAKES AND THE WHEELS BECOME COOL BEFORE YOU GO NEAR THE LANDING GEAR. DO NOT APPLY A LIQUID OR GAS DIRECTLY ON A HOT WHEEL OR BRAKE UNIT. THIS CAN CAUSE A TIRE EXPLOSION AND/OR A WHEEL RIM BURST.

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

CAUTION: USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED MATERIALS AND OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURERS. OTHER MATERIALS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION OF THE COMPONENTS AND THE RELATED AREA.

To clean the external parts of the wheels and brakes from all signs of corrosion.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-40-00-941-055-A

A. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Make sure that the CHOCK - WHEEL(S) are in position.
(3) On panel 400VU:
(a) Make sure that the landing-gear control lever 6GA is in the DOWN position.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear control lever.
(4) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(5) Put an applicable COVER - WATERPROOF on:

The wheels and their tires
All rubber items
The hinges
The chromium surfaces.

(a) Make sure the covers you use give sufficient protection during the procedure to clean the wheels and brakes.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-40-00-100-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Cleaning of the MLG Wheels and Brakes
(1) Clean the external parts of the MLG wheels and brakes that have corrosion with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(2) Make sure that you do not clean the:

Carbon disks
Area that can come in contact with carbon disks.

Subtask 32-40-00-100-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Cleaning of the MLG Wheels and Brakes
(1) Clean the external parts of the MLG wheels and brakes that has corrosion with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) or Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) .
(2) Make sure that you do not clean the:

Carbon disks
Area that can come in contact with carbon disks.

(3) Remove the dust and unwanted material from the surfaces with the BRUSH - NYLON made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) or Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) .
(4) Dry the areas where you removed the dust and unwanted material with the AIR SOURCE 0.3 TO 0.7 BAR (5 TO 10 PSI)- FILTERED, DRY or a textile-lint free cotton.

B. Cleaning of the NLG Wheels
(1) Clean the external parts of the NLG wheels that has corrosion with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) or Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) .
(2) Remove the dust and unwanted material from the surfaces with the BRUSH - NYLON made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) or Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) .
(3) Dry the areas where you removed the dust and unwanted material with the AIR SOURCE 0.3 TO 0.7 BAR (5 TO 10 PSI)- FILTERED, DRY or a textile-lint free cotton.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
