Removal of the Flight/Ground Sensing Mechanism


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-21-45-941-050-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on panel 400VU, put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control-lever.
   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the steering handwheels (CAPT and F/O) and on the brake pedals to tell persons not to operate them.
   (3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the PARKING BRK section of panel 110VU, make sure that the control switch is in the OFF position.
   (2) Lift the aircraft at the forward jacking point (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
NOTE: The jacking at the NLG releases the residual loads in the torque links.
   (3) Remove the protective sealants with a SPATULA - NON METALLIC to prevent damage to the surfaces of the components.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-45-020-050-F
A. Removal of the Flight/Ground Sensing Mechanism
NOTE: This procedure is applicable for the NLG leg-assembly installed with only one lubrication fitting on the flight/ground sensing mechanism.
   (1) Remove the casing assembly.
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (13) and the nut (12).
     (b) Remove the washer (11) and the screw (9).
     (c) Disconnect the rod (7) from the clevis (10).
     (d) Release and remove the screw (21) from the pin (14).
     (e) Remove and discard the lockwasher (22).
     (f) Remove the nut (5) and the washer (4).
     (g) Hold the casing (6) and remove the screw (1), the two bushes (3) and the washer (2).
     (h) Lift the casing (6) and disengage it from the pin (14).
     (i) Remove the casing (6) from the leg (8).
   (2) Remove the target support assembly.
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (25) and the nut (24).
     (b) Remove the washer (23).
     (c) Remove the screw (20) and the two washers (27).
     (d) Remove the rod (7) and the lever (15) from the casing (6).
     (e) Remove and discard the cotter pin (18) and the nut (19).
     (f) Remove the washer (17) and the bush (16).
     (g) Remove the screw (26).
     (h) Remove the rod (7) from the lever (15).

B. Removal of the Flight/Ground Sensing Mechanism
NOTE: This procedure is applicable for the NLG leg-assembly installed with two lubrication fittings on the flight/ground sensing mechanism.
   (1) Remove the casing assembly as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).
     (b) Remove and discard the nut (18).
     (c) Remove the washer (19) and the bolt (16).
     (d) Disconnect the link assembly (14) from the clevis (15).
     (e) Release and remove the screw (12) from the pin (20).
     (f) Remove and discard the lock washer (13).
     (g) Remove the nut (21) and the washer (22).
     (h) Hold the casing (6) and remove the bolt (10).
     (i) Remove and discard the lock washer (11).
     (j) Lift the casing (6) and disengage it from the pin (20).
     (k) Remove the casing (6) from the NLG.
   (2) Remove the target support assembly as follows:
     (a) Remove the nut (1), the washer (2), the bolt (23) and the washer (24).
     (b) Remove the pin (7), the washers (4) and (8) and the lubrication fittings (9).
     (c) Remove the rod (14) together with the lever (3) from the casing (6).
     (d) Remove and discard the cotter pin (25).
     (e) Remove and discard the nut (26).
     (f) Remove the washer (27) and the bolt (5).
     (g) Remove the link assembly (14) from the lever (3).
