Removal of the Protective Cover of the Forestay Bearing
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
PRESSURIZE ONLY THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM(S) THAT IS (ARE) NECESSARY FOR THE TASK. ISOLATE THE OTHER HYDRAULIC SYSTEM(S) BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT.

A. Get Access
(1) Lift the aircraft at the forward jacking point (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
(2) Open access doors 812 and 822.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 123.

A. Removal of the Protective Cover of the Forestay Bearing
(1) Remove the cotter pins (5) and discard them.
(2) Remove the nuts (6) and washers (4).
(3) Remove the protective cover (3).
(4) Remove the O-rings (1) and (2) and discard them.

A. Removal of the Protective Cover of the Forestay Bearing
(1) Remove the cotter pins (2) and discard them.
(2) If you cannot remove one or more bolts (7) because of the load on the forestay, manually push the NLG wheels forward to release the load.
(4) Through the nose gear compartment, install the removed bolt (7) again in the opposite direction through the swivel bearing and airframe to prevent the movement of the bearing.
(5) Remove the remaining three bolts (7) and remove the protective cover (6).
(6) Remove the O-rings (4) and (5) and discard them.
(1) Remove the cotter pins (2) and discard them.
(2) If you cannot remove one or more bolts (7) because of the load on the forestay, manually push the NLG wheels forward to release the load.
NOTE: During the removal of the protective cover, one bolt must always stay installed to prevent the movement of the bearing.
(3) Remove the nuts (1), washers (3) and one of the four installed bolts (7). (4) Through the nose gear compartment, install the removed bolt (7) again in the opposite direction through the swivel bearing and airframe to prevent the movement of the bearing.
(5) Remove the remaining three bolts (7) and remove the protective cover (6).
(6) Remove the O-rings (4) and (5) and discard them.
