(1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.

A. Removal of NLG Lock Spring
(1) Install the M21929 TENSIONING FIXTURE (25) on the spring (5) on each end-fitting. Extend the lock spring sufficiently to release the spring pressure on the spring attachments.
(2) Remove and discard the cotter pins (8) and (9).
(3) Remove the nuts (7) and (10).
(4) Remove the washers (6) and (11).
(5) Remove the lock spring (5).
Subtask 32-21-18-480-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the M21929 TENSIONING FIXTURE (25) on the spring (5) on each end-fitting. Extend the lock spring sufficiently to release the spring pressure on the spring attachments.
(2) Remove and discard the cotter pins (8) and (9).
(3) Remove the nuts (7) and (10).
(4) Remove the washers (6) and (11).
(5) Remove the lock spring (5).
NOTE: You must remove the lock springs from their links at the same time to prevent stress.
(6) Remove the washers (4) and (3). B. Installation of the Washers Spacers (M46789)
(1) Install the washer (4) and the M46789 SPACER-WASHER on the pin (2).
(2) Measure the clearance and use the applicable AIPC 32-21-17-02-040 ADJUSTMENT WASHER (3) to get the clearance : J1 = between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
(4) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )

(6) Install the M46789 SPACER-WASHER on the pin (12).
(7) Install the washer (11) and the nut (10). TORQUE the nut (10) to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )

(8) Install a new AIPC 32-21-11-42-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-62-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-82-010 COTTER PIN (9).
Subtask 32-21-18-480-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the washer (4) and the M46789 SPACER-WASHER on the pin (2).
(2) Measure the clearance and use the applicable AIPC 32-21-17-02-040 ADJUSTMENT WASHER (3) to get the clearance : J1 = between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
NOTE: You must use between one and three adjustment washers (3).
(3) Install the washer (6) and the nut (7). (4) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )
. NOTE: Put a wrench on the flats of the shoulder of the pin (2) to prevent movement.
(5) Install a new AIPC 32-21-17-02-010 COTTER PIN (8). (6) Install the M46789 SPACER-WASHER on the pin (12).
(7) Install the washer (11) and the nut (10). TORQUE the nut (10) to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )
. (8) Install a new AIPC 32-21-11-42-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-62-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-82-010 COTTER PIN (9).
B. Installation of the Washers Spacers (M46789)
(1) Install the washer (4) and the M46789 SPACER-WASHER on the pin (2).
(2) Measure the clearance and use the applicable AIPC 32-21-17-02-040 ADJUSTMENT WASHER (3) to get clearance J1 to between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
(4) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )

(a) Put a wrench on the flats of the shoulder of the pin (2) to prevent movement.
(5) Safety the nut (7) with the new AIPC 32-21-17-02-010 COTTER PIN (8).
(6) Install the M46789 SPACER-WASHER on the pin (12).
(7) Install the washer (11) and the nut (10).
(8) TORQUE the nut (10) to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )

(9) Safety the nut (10) with the new AIPC 32-21-11-42-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-22-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-62-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-82-010 COTTER PIN (9).
(1) Install the washer (4) and the M46789 SPACER-WASHER on the pin (2).
(2) Measure the clearance and use the applicable AIPC 32-21-17-02-040 ADJUSTMENT WASHER (3) to get clearance J1 to between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
NOTE: You can use a maximum of three adjustment washers (3).
(3) Install the washer (6) and the nut (7). (4) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )
. (a) Put a wrench on the flats of the shoulder of the pin (2) to prevent movement.
(5) Safety the nut (7) with the new AIPC 32-21-17-02-010 COTTER PIN (8).
(6) Install the M46789 SPACER-WASHER on the pin (12).
(7) Install the washer (11) and the nut (10).
(8) TORQUE the nut (10) to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )
.(9) Safety the nut (10) with the new AIPC 32-21-11-42-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-22-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-62-010 COTTER PIN (9) or AIPC 32-21-11-82-010 COTTER PIN (9).
