   (1) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap and slat control lever.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in positions that follow before you start the work on the ice protection system:
  • On the high-pressure ground-power connections, to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system
  • In the cockpit, to tell persons not to operate the engines or APU control switch
  • On the panel 30VU, to tell persons not to pressurize the bleed air system
  • On the panel 114VU, to tell persons not to operate the slat controls.
   (3) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.

A. Preparation of a Replacement Component (for the Part Numbers (PN) SAS911-002A and SAS912-002A)
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE ANTI-ICE DUCTS UNTIL THEY ARE COOL. THE TEMPERATURE OF THE DUCTS STAYS HIGH FOR SOME TIME AFTER THE ENGINE STOPS.
   (1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the electrical connectors (7).
   (2) Make sure that the transport cap is removed from the controller housing assembly.
   (3) Clean the components as follows:
     (a) Clean the flanges on the wing anti-ice control-valve (2) and the anti-ice ducts (4) and (11) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 30-11-51-560-051-A
B. Preparation of a Replacement Component (for part number 38E93-X)
   (1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the:
  • Open ends of the anti-ice ducts (13) and (17)
  • Electrical connectors (14), (15) and (16)
  • Electrical connectors and the openings on the anti-ice control valve (11).
   (2) To clean the components:
     (a) Clean the flanges on the anti-ice control valve (11) and the anti-ice ducts (13) and (17) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 30-11-51-420-053-A
C. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 30-11-51-420-050-A
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE ANTI-ICE DUCTS UNTIL THEY ARE COOL. THE TEMPERATURE OF THE DUCTS STAYS HIGH FOR SOME TIME AFTER THE ENGINE STOPS.
D. Installation of the Wing Anti-Ice Control-Valve (for the Part Numbers (PN) SAS911-002A and SAS912-002A)
NOTE: The wing anti-ice control-valve with the PN SAS912-002A is not approved for the Extended Range Operations for Two-Engine Aeroplanes (ETOPS).
NOTE: The wing anti-ice control-valve is spring loaded in the closed position. If the valve is manually open without the air pressure, the valve can cause a blockage at 45 degrees when it goes back to the closed position. This is usual because there is no sufficient air pressure on the internal diaphragm of the valve.
   (1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the anti-ice ducts (4) and (11) and the wing anti-ice control-valve (2).
   (2) Put the wing anti-ice control-valve (2) in position between the two anti-ice ducts (4) and (11).
   (3) Make sure that the pin (6) is correctly aligned with the hole (5) in the flange of the wing anti-ice control-valve (2).
   (4) Install the clamps (1) and (3).
   (5) TORQUE the nuts of the clamps (1) and (3) to between 0.51 and 0.39 m.daN (45.13 and 34.51 lbf.in ) T.
   (6) Connect the electrical connectors as follows:
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU CONNECT EACH PLUG TO THE CORRECT RECEPTACLE (USE THE IDENTIFICATION MARKS).
     (b) Connect the electrical connectors (8), (9) and (10).

E. Installation of the Wing Anti-Ice Control-Valve (for part number 38E93-X)
   (1) FOR [
9DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, L)
  • Slowly operate the indicator (18) with your hand to make sure that it moves freely.
   (2) FOR [10DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, R)
  • Slowly operate the indicator (20) with your hand to make sure that it moves freely.
NOTE: The slide mechanism (21) must be in the center position for correct operation.
   (3) Loosely assemble the clamps (10) and (12) to the anti-ice control valve (11).
   (4) Put the anti-ice control valve (11) in position between the two ducts (13) and (17). Make sure that the location pin (19) engages the hole in the flange of the anti-ice control valve (11).
   (5) Install the clamps (10) and (12) and TORQUE the nuts on the clamps (10) and (12) to between 0.51 and 0.39 m.daN (45.13 and 34.51 lbf.in ) T.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (6) Connect the electrical connectors (14), (15) and (16) to the anti-ice control valve (11).
