(2) Release the quick release fasteners (1).
(3) Remove the grid (2).
(4) Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the smoke detector (6).
(5) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(6) Remove the screws (4) and the washers (5).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
Subtask 26-16-15-010-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
B. Get Access
(1) Remove the cabin floor panel 251AF to get access to the smoke detectors 5WH and 6WH (Ref. AMM TASK 53-42-12-000-001).
(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons to be careful about the opened floor panel.
(3) Open the forward cargo-compartment door 825 and the aft cargo-compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(4) In the forward cargo compartment, set the CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU to the ON position.
(5) In the aft cargo compartment, set the CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 8LU to the ON position.
Subtask 26-16-15-865-050-A (1) Remove the cabin floor panel 251AF to get access to the smoke detectors 5WH and 6WH (Ref. AMM TASK 53-42-12-000-001).
(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons to be careful about the opened floor panel.
(3) Open the forward cargo-compartment door 825 and the aft cargo-compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(4) In the forward cargo compartment, set the CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU to the ON position.
(5) In the aft cargo compartment, set the CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 8LU to the ON position.

DO NOT OPEN OR REPAIR THE SMOKE DETECTOR.
IF THE SMOKE DETECTOR IS DAMAGED, PUT ON RUBBER GLOVES BEFORE YOU TOUCH IT.
THE SMOKE DETECTOR CONTAINS RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL WHICH IS DANGEROUS.
THUS ONLY WORKSHOPS APPROVED BY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE SMOKE DETECTOR ARE PERMITTED TO DO WORK ON IT.
WHEN YOU DISCARD IT, OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE SMOKE DETECTOR MANUFACTURER. ALSO OBEY LOCAL REGULATIONS FOR RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS.
A. Removal of the Smoke Detector NOTE: The removal procedure is the same for all smoke detectors.
(1) Remove the ceiling smoke channels for access to the grid (2). (2) Release the quick release fasteners (1).
(3) Remove the grid (2).
(4) Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the smoke detector (6).
(5) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(6) Remove the screws (4) and the washers (5).
(7) Remove the smoke detector (6).

(2) Release the quick release fasteners (1).

(4) Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the smoke detector (6).
(5) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.

(a) Remove the ceiling smoke channels for access to the grid (2).
(b) Release the quick release fasteners (1).
(c) Remove the grid (2).
(d) Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the smoke detector (6).
(e) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(f) Remove the screws (4) and the washers (5).
(g) Remove the smoke detector (6).
(2) FOR [5WH] (DET-SMOKE, CARGO COMPT), [6WH] (DET-SMOKE, CARGO COMPT)
(a) Remove the screws (10) and the washers (11).
(b) Move the plate (9) to the side and carefully lift it together with the smoke detector (17) to get access to the electrical connector (18).
(c) Disconnect the electrical connector (18) from the smoke detector (17).
(d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(e) Remove the nuts (15), the washers (8), the screws (7) and the spacers (12,13).
(f) Remove the plate (9) and the angles (14) from the smoke detector (17).
NOTE: The removal procedure is not the same for all smoke detectors.

(b) Release the quick release fasteners (1).
(c) Remove the grid (2).
(d) Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the smoke detector (6).
(e) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(f) Remove the screws (4) and the washers (5).
(g) Remove the smoke detector (6).
(2) FOR [5WH] (DET-SMOKE, CARGO COMPT), [6WH] (DET-SMOKE, CARGO COMPT)
(a) Remove the screws (10) and the washers (11).
