MAKE SURE THAT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch is in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 24-21-62-865-050-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

C. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position on the left side of the engine.
(a) Install the COVER - PROTECTION in position on the openings of the engine.
Subtask 24-21-62-040-050-A (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position on the left side of the engine.
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(3) Installation of the protection covers:(a) Install the COVER - PROTECTION in position on the openings of the engine.
D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM D/O 78-30-00-48).Subtask 24-21-62-020-051-A
A. Removal of the Terminal Block (Pylon Side)
(a) Loosen the terminal block cover-screws (2).
(2) Disconnect the set of power feeder cables (7) as follows:
(a) Loosen the bolts (5) from the bar clamp (6).
(b) Remove the nuts (9) from the terminal block (8).
(c) Lift the set of power feeder cables (7) from the studs of the terminal block (8).
(d) Carefully disengage the set of power feeder cables (7) from the top half of the bar clamp (6).
(3) Remove the bolts (3) that attach the terminal block (8) to the support bracket (4).
(4) Remove the terminal block (8) from the support bracket (4).
CAUTION:
MAKE MATCH MARKS ON ALL THE ELECTRICAL WIRES BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THEM. INCORRECT CONNECTION OF WIRES WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Remove the terminal block cover (1) as follows: (a) Loosen the terminal block cover-screws (2).
NOTE: The terminal block cover-screws (2) are attached to the terminal block cover (1) with e-rings. It is not necessary to remove the terminal block cover-screws (2).
(b) Remove the terminal block cover (1). (2) Disconnect the set of power feeder cables (7) as follows:
(a) Loosen the bolts (5) from the bar clamp (6).
(b) Remove the nuts (9) from the terminal block (8).
(c) Lift the set of power feeder cables (7) from the studs of the terminal block (8).
(d) Carefully disengage the set of power feeder cables (7) from the top half of the bar clamp (6).
(3) Remove the bolts (3) that attach the terminal block (8) to the support bracket (4).
(4) Remove the terminal block (8) from the support bracket (4).
