A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 24-21-41-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040).
Subtask 24-21-41-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of the QAD Adapter
   (1) To remove the QAD adapter (2) from the accessory-gearbox mounting-pad (1):
  • hit the head of each flat head screw (3) with a flat head punch (5).
NOTE: Flat head screws (3) rub or get caught in mating parts. Strong contact is required to loosen the flat head screws.
CAUTION: YOU CAN DAMAGE THE SCREWS IF YOU USE TOO MUCH FORCE TO HIT THE PUNCH.
   (2) If you cannot loosen flat head screws:
  • get a pointed punch (7).
  • put the pointed punch (7) on the screw (3) with an angular position which will make the screw turn counterclockwise.
  • hit the screw.
   (3) Remove the screws (3) that attach the QAD adapter (2) to the accessory-gearbox mounting-pad.
   (4) Pull the QAD adapter (2) away from the accessory-gearbox mounting-pad.
NOTE: If you cannot easily release the QAD adapter (2) from the mounting-pad, lightly hit the QAD adapter with a soft-faced mallet.
   (5) Discard the gasket (6) only if it is damaged or shows signs of excessive wear.
   (6) Install the COVER - PROTECTION on the accessory-gearbox mounting-pad (1).
