Prime the Engine Oil System

WARNING: DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.

1. Reason for the Job
This task gives the instructions necessary to fill a new engine, or an engine that has had an overhaul, with oil and to prime the oil system. This task must only be used when detailed in other tasks.

NOTE: It is recommended that you keep to one brand of oil although approved brands may be mixed if necessary to continue operation.

A. Fill the oil system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011).

4. Procedure
Subtask 12-13-79-870-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Motor the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-045)
(1) Dry motor the engine for one minute. Make sure that the oil pressure is 10 psi or greater after 30 seconds.

B. Fill the oil system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011).

5. Close-up

A. Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
